Gillian Crawford had 20 assists and Jessica Crawford added 12 digs and nine kills as the St. Thomas More girls’ volleyball team defeated M.O.T. Charter 3-0 and improved to 13-1 on the season on Wednesday afternoon.

Logan Hughes had eight kills and libero Madison Murrian led the Ravens with 13 digs.

High school

Henlopen championships announced: The Henlopen Conference volleyball championship will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Milford High. The game will feature Henlopen North champion Smyrna against Henlopen South winner Delmar.

The boys’ soccer championship will be Saturday, Nov. 5 at Dover High (6 p.m.). Sussex Central (North champion) will face Indian River (South).

The conference cross country championship meet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5 at Killens Pond. A time has not been determined yet.

Boys’ soccer

Sussex Academy 6, Lake Forest 0: Nate Riddle scored four goals in the second half as Sussex Academy defeated the Spartans.

Will Davis netted the other two goals and assisted on three of Riddle’s. Ross Mosheir and Kannex Camarco also had assists for Sussex Academy (9-4).

Women’s volleyball

Delaware 3, Towson 0: The University of Delaware volleyball team used a pair of big comebacks in the opening two games to win their second straight match with a triumph over Towson.

The Blue Hens, who have won four of their last five contests to improve to 10-14 overall and 4-7 in the Colonial Athletic Association, captured the match by set scores of 28-26, 25-21, 25-21. The Tigers dropped their second straight contest while falling to 19-7 overall and 6-5 in league action.

UD senior outside hitter Autumn Jenkins again led the way for the Blue Hens with team-highs of 16 kills and 13 digs, while she committed just two attack errors to hit .400 for the night. Fellow senior Lauren Talley added a career-high 12 kills against just one error as she posted a .440 attack percentage, while classmate Alexa Swann contributed nine kills without an error to hit .409 in the win. UD hit .312 as a team, its highest attack percentage since the season-opening win over Coppin State.

Senior setter Erin Layne handed out 36 assists and made nine digs on the night, while libero Taylor Hollingsworth chipped in with 12 digs of her own.

Jocelyn Kuilan led Towson with 13 kills, while Carola Biver added 11 and Anna Holehouse posted a match-high 17 digs.

The Tigers broke a 6-6 tie early in the first set by winning six straight points, and looked to be in control of the game up 22-17. But the Blue Hens roared back with a 7-1 spurt to take a 24-23 lead, and after Towson saved a pair of set points, kills by Corey Perkins and Layne gave Delaware the early lead.

Towson again jumped in front during the second game at 15-9, but the Blue Hens stormed back again with a dominating 14-4 spurt to take a 23-19 advantage. The Tigers answered with two of the next three points, but Swann posted a kill to end the game and put Delaware up two sets.

The third frame was knotted at 10-10, but Delaware captured six of the next seven points and led the rest of the way. Towson closed within a pair three times down the stretch, but Jenkins punctuated the match with two consecutive kills to seal the Blue Hen victory.

College field hockey

Salisbury 7, Wesley 0: The Wesley offense was held to just three shots on the night as the No. 2-ranked Sea Gulls held possession and controlled tempo for most of the game. Wesley earned three penalty corners on the evening as well, while Salisbury had 10 corner opportunities.

Makenzie McIntyre made seven saves in the first 15 minutes of play before being relieved by Sidney Knott, who finished with four saves. Sydney Stump made five stops and allowed just one goal over 34 minutes in the second half.

Women’s soccer

Salisbury 5, Wesley 1: The Wolverines notched one goal, a freshman-to-freshman connection, taking advantage of one of the only two shots they took on the day. Sam Brannigan made six saves in 79 minutes of action. Amanda Deputy stopped the only shot she saw in 11 minutes of relief.

Wesley conceded the first goal of the game, but came back to tie the contest just 1:39 later. Aleya Cummings collected the ball from the midfield, drawing several defenders, and flicked it on over the top of the back line where Madison Roberts ran onto it and scored her first collegiate goal. The tally leveled the score at 1-1 early in the first half.
