Luke Rankin netted four goals and Joshua Cosden added three as Caesar Rodney High downed Polytech, 15-4, in Henlopen Conference Northern Division boys’ lacrosse on Wednesday night.

The Riders (2-0 North, 3-2 overall) limited the Panthers to only one goal in each quarter while scoring at least three goals in each period themselves.

Also scoring goals for CR were Nolan Aloe (2 goals), Jacob Pangle (1 assist), Jack Bobel, Noah Longest, Cameron Gillette and Jared Wagonhoffer. Rankin added two assists and Cosden had one.

Goalie Tyler Gross made nine saves as CR outshot the Panthers, 35-13.

Zachary Maheu had two goals and an assist for Polytech with Joshua Davis and Griffin Ott also scoring goals. Nathan Fairbanks made 14 saves.

Dover 9, Smyrna 7: The Senators topped the Eagles in a Henlopen North contest.

Milford 12, Indian River 10: The Buccaneers grabbed an 8-3 halftime advantage before picking up the Henlopen South win.

Milford was paced by Cohen Bonneville (4 goals), Dallas Rhodes (3 goals, 2 assists) and Mark Henderson (2 goals, 2 assists). Chase Taylor, Brennan Hajek and Ryan Herka added the other goals.

Goalie Clay Stevenson made 17 saves.

Cape Henlopen 15, Sussex Central 0: Erik-Stephane Stancofski and Hank Coveleski netted three goals apiece to pace the Vikings to the Henlopen North win.

Brock Maloomian and Ethan Ghabra both scored twice with Patrick Monigle, Jaycob Trimmer, Luke D’Ambrogi, Nolan Brown and Trevor Watts adding the other goals.

Central’s Jordan Schmidt made 12 saves.

Sussex Tech 11, Parkside 10: The Ravens led 9-6 after three quarters before holding on for the win.

Jason Whaley (4 goals, 2 assists) and Matthew Tull (3 goals, 4 assists) led Sussex Tech with Nathaniel Quillen (2 goals), Ian Carlisle (1 goal, 3 assists) and Nathan Nanenfeld (1 goal) also scoring.

Ryan Justis made nine saves for the Ravens, who outshot Parkside, 23-18.

GIRLS, Smyrna 11, Dover 8: Maddie Price had four goals and a pair of assists as the Eagles improved to 3-0.

Alison Sayers added three goals while Kaila Hindt and Shabnam Noroozi-Pooya tallied two goals each for Smyrna, which led 6-5 at halftime. Goalie Gabrielle DiRusso made nine saves as the Senators outshot the Eagles, 14-11.

Dover’s Cydney Barnes and Grace Servon both had two goals with Grace Gast, Ashley Manifold, Kristin Moffett and Mira Prisco all scoring one.

Polytech 16, Caesar Rodney 5: Allie McKay tallied seven goals and an assist to spark the Panthers to the win.

Jamie Trabaudo added five goals, including the 200th of her career, with a pair of assists for Polytech, which built a 12-3 halftime lead.

Also for the Panthers, Maddie McKay had three goals, Morgan Cook had one, Kate Richardson had three assists and Shannon Stephan made five saves. Polytech outshot the Riders, 38-11.

Kacie Cava scored twice for CR with Delaney Steele, Kourtney Olsen and Maegan Stewart also scoring. Kaitlyn Longest stopped 20 shots.

Sussex Tech 19, Sussex Academy 3: The Ravens used a 12-goal first half in picking up the victory.

Cape Henlopen 21, Indian River 2: The Vikings jumped out to a 13-1 halftime lead before posting the victory.

Girls’ soccer

Sussex Central 3, Red Lion Christian 2: The Golden Knights edged Red Lion in a nonconference matchup.

Lake Forest 7, Dover 6: Hannah Fox netted three first-half goals for the Spartans in their win on Tuesday.

Lake goalie Alyssa Banks made five saves as both teams took 12 shots and the Senators held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Kathryn Ford tallied five of Dover’s six goals.

Baseball

Delmar 3, Woodbridge 2: Cade Pusey doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Wildcats.

Pitchers Jimmy Adkins and Hunter Frey combined to pitch a five-hitter.

Cape Henlopen 6, Sussex Central 4: In a game played on Tuesday, the Vikings scored twice in the top of the seventh before holding off the Golden Knights in the bottom of the inning.

After Central rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, reliever David Erickson came in with the bases loaded and retired the final two batters to record the save.

Starting pitcher Austin Elliott struck out five in four innings while Ben Ashby had a pair of hits for Cape.

The Knights’ Trevor Collins didn’t allow an earned run and had 12 strikeouts in five innings. Jake Brewington struck out four in two innings with Chris Harrison adding a pair of hits.

Delmarva Christian 31, Christiana 1: C.J. Wilkerson and Matthew Murphey combined to pitch a five-inning no-hitter for the Royals.

Softball

Padua 11, Polytech 1: The Pandas used a six-run fourth inning to break open a 1-0 contest.

Brianna Sapienza had two of the Panthers’ eight hits.

Delmar 18, Woodbridge 8: The Wildcats scored 10 runs in the first inning of the Henlopen win.

Avery Wheatley homered for Delmar while Carly Covington and Tracy Pleasanton pitched.

Smyrna 17, Dover 0: Tayler John scored four runs for the Eagles in the Henlopen Conference win on Tuesday.

Madison Drummond, Kaelyn Press, Taylor Cappella, and Madison Price added two RBI each for Smyrna with Jessica Anderson and Olyvia Smith combining on a four-hit shutout.

Maddie Smart doubled for the Senators.

Delmarva Christian 9, Christiana 2: Camryn Thompson pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks for the Royals.

Jordyn DiFava, Siera Jones and Louisa Re combined for four hits and five RBI for Delmarva Christian.

Christiana’s Jemiah Groce struck out 18 with five walks.

College softball

Blue Hens sweep Hornets: Delaware extended its winning streak to a season-long seven games with an 8-7, 9-3 sweep of Delaware State.

In the opener, a bases-loaded double by Vanessa Washington gave DSU a 7-5 advantage in the top of the fourth. But, in the bottom of the inning, Anna Steinmetz blasted a three-run homerun over the centerfield fence to put the Hens (22-12) ahead to stay.

Winning pitcher Kiersten Coffman (13-4) scattered 11 hits in the complete-game victory in the nightcap. Delaware also tied a school record by stealing nine bases.

College baseball

Wesley 8, Penn State-Harrisburg 3: The Wolverines tied their longest winning streak in the past three seasons by earning their sixth consecutive victory.

Andrew Weaver allowed just two runs on three hits while striking out five. Sam Meck and Eric Willey close out the game, tossing an inning each without allowing an earned run for Wesley (8-5 CAC, 15-12 overall).

KeAndre Jones, Mike Calvarese and Trey Mears had two hits apiece, while Joe Hummel turned in three RBI for the Wolverines.

La Salle 4, Delaware State 2: The Hornets committed four errors and had two passed balls, as the Explorers scored four unearned runs in the victory.

Delaware State pitchers struck out 12 La Salle batters, but the Hornets also fanned a dozen times in the contest.

College lacrosse

MEN, York 19, Wesley 4: Hunter Coho scored three goals for the Wolverines in their loss to the fourth-ranked Spartans.

Nate Gemmato added the other goal with Cody Ireland making 20 saves.

WOMEN, Marymount 16, Wesley 4: Bailey Olds and Paige Brehm each finished with a goal and an assist for the Wolverines (2-10) in the loss.

Fallon Fore and Maddison Cypher each netted goals as well while Savannah Clough led the squad with four ground balls and made 13 saves in net.
