Roundup: Polytech defeats Dover 3-1 in boys’ soccer

The Polytech boys’ soccer team defeated Dover High 3-1 on Thursday night in a Henlopen Conference Northern Division matchup.

The Panthers were paced by goals from Marco Maddalena, Zack Maheu and Samuel Dewar.

Cape Henlopen 5, Smyrna 1: Zack Gelof netted a pair of goals to lead the Vikings in the Henlo-pen North contest.

Richard Carey, Troy Humphries and Uly Slagle each added a goal for Cape. Zach Zlock scored Smyrna’s only goal.

Lake Forest 3, Woodbridge 1: Jonathan Garcia scored twice in the second half as the Spartans rallied from a halftime deficit.

Tyler Mitchell also had a goal for Lake Forest.

Sussex Central 3, Caesar Rodney 2: Juan Perez, Yordan Morales and Dalendy Duperville each scored in the Golden Knight victory.

St. Thomas More 3, Delaware Academy of Public Safety and Security 2: Nicholas Olsen and George Willis tallied a goal each in the second half for the Ravens. Patrick Magee added a first half goal.

Field hockey

Cape Henlopen 3, Caesar Rodney 0: Annie Judge, Jacqueline Cannon and Darby Klopp scored as the Vikings shut out the Riders.

Dover 9, Sussex Central 0: Kristen Adkins and Ally Manifold each netted a pair of goals to lead the Senator scoring barrage.

Milford 5, Sussex Tech 0: Megan Fry and Rajene Bowe scored twice to pace the Buccaneers.

Volleyball

Caesar Rodney 3, Sussex Central 0: The Riders won 25-18, 25-10, 25-15.

Polytech 3, Dover 0: The Panthers swept 25-17, 25-9 and 25-9.

Smyrna 3, Cape Henlopen 0: The Eagles recorded the straight set victory 25-8, 25-19, 25-17.

College field hockey

Stockton 6, Wesley 0: The Wesley College Field Hockey team played a very hard-fought first half, sticking with the Stockton College Ospreys for the first 35 minutes, but were outlasted by the non-conference opponent.

The Wolverines went through four goalies, with Sidney Knott earning the start and playing through the entire first half. The freshman allowed one goal and made four saves in the first 35 minutes. Bridget Woodbegan the second half and made one save while allowing two goals in just over 15 minutes. Sydney Stump and Makenzie McIn-tyre each saw time in net as well. Morgan Seymour came away with a pair of defensive saves as well.

Wesley was outshot 22-7 by the Ospreys but each team earned six penalty corners on the night. Te Wolverines had four shots in the first half and three in the second half. Five of their seven shots were on goal on the evening.
