M.O.T. downed Milford, 19-1, to capture the District I championship in Major League softball on Sunday night.
Danielle DeBenedictis pitched a no-hitter for the Middletown-area all-stars, who advance to the state tournament, which begins on Wednesday in Georgetown. Lower Sussex is the District III champion in the age group.
Alicia Bruce had four RBI for M.O.T. in Sunday’s win while Haley Quickel and DeBenedictis added three apiece. Olivia Toledo and Taylor Bitola both scored three runs.
Milford won three straight games to come out of the losers’ bracket. Milford went 4-2 in the tournament, with both of its losses coming against M.O.T.
Milford 17, Smyrna-Clayton 2: Milford earned its place in the district finals with the win on Saturday night.
Winning pitcher Abby Justice allowed only three hits in four innings while Macy Myers and Haley Baker both had a pair of hits with three RBI.
Amanda Pagano doubled for Smyrna-Clayton.
Senior League
Milford 13, Camden-Wyoming 9: Host Milford reached the District I finals with the win on Sunday night.
Milford will play in the title game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
In Sunday’s victory, Alexis Berezanski went 4-for-5 with two RBI, Tovah Crawford had two hits and a pair of RBI while Emily Sickels scored the tying run in the seventh inning. Pitcher Kyha Reynolds struck out three.
Madison Carroll had three strikeouts for Camden-Wyoming while Gwen Porter and Alexis Hermann had two hits apiece.
Smyrna-Clayton 11, Felton-Harrington 7: Smyrna-Clayton stayed alive in the losers’ bracket with the win on Sunday.
Winning pitcher Haley Harper struck out five for Smyrna-Clayton, which plays Dover today at 7 p.m. at Milford.
Stephanie Lynn had nine strikeouts for Felton-Harrington.
Camden-Wyoming 13, Dover 5: In a game played Saturday night, Camden-Wyoming advanced in the winners’ bracket with the victory.
Alexis Hermann and Madison Carroll both pitched for C-W.
Cabrina Miller and Cheyenne Humberton each doubled for Dover.
Milford 17, Smyrna-Clayton 9: Milford picked up the win in a game played on Saturday night.
Alexis Beregansay went 4-for-5, Ariana Morris went 3-for-4 and pitcher Kyha Reynolds struck out four.
Smyrna-Clayton pitcher Hayley Harper had seven strikeouts.
Baseball
50/70 Intermediate, Camden-Wyoming 13, M.O.T. 10: Camden-Wyoming captured both the District I and state title with the victory on Sunday, taking the best-of-three series, 2-0.
Camden-Wyoming earns a spot in the Eastern Regional, which starts on July 24 in Long Island, N.Y.
Tyler Ross hit three homeruns for Camden-Wyoming while Austin Russell and Mason Brewer had one each.
Brandon Anderson, Krew Boldin and Robbie Gordon all homered for M.O.T.
