Marco Maddalena’s goal in the 18th minute was enough as the Polytech High boys’ soccer team defeated Milford High 1-0 on Tuesday night.

With the win, the Panthers stayed unbeaten and moved to 4-0.

Caesar Rodney 6, Glasgow 1: Ricardo Hernandez scored five times as the Riders earned their first victory of the year.

Smyrna 5, St. Thomas More 1: Dakota Kerr’s two goals led Smyrna to the win.

Lake Forest 9, Delaware Academy of Public Safety and Security 0: Parker Sard and William Parker each recorded a hat trick for the Spartans.

Tyler Mitchell, Anthony Oviedo and Cameron Beulah each added a goal for Lake Forest.

Cape Henlopen 1, Sussex Academy 0: Troy Humphries netted the overtime winner for the Vikings.

Field hockey

Cape Henlopen 5, Dover 0: Alia Marshall led the way with a pair goals as the defending state champions improved to 3-0.

Jackie Cannon, Lindsay Monigle and Mia Carulli tallied one goal apiece for Cape.

Milford 4, Polytech 1: Rajene Bowe’s three goals paced the Buccaneers on Tuesday.

Courtney Kohel had a goal for Milford while Madison Knight scored the lone Polytech goal.

St. Thomas More 3, Sussex Academy 0: Sarah Pool’s 10 kills lifted the Ravens to a 25-13, 25-11, 25-13 victory.

Dover 3, Lake Forest 1: The Senators defeated the Spartans 25-11, 27-29, 27-25, 25-22.

Delaware Military Academy 3, Smyrna 0: The Eagles fell to the reigning state champions 25-16, 25-21, 25-18.

Cape Henlopen 3, Indian River 0: The Vikings won in straight sets 25-18, 25-16, 25-20

Men’s soccer

Virginia Tech 2, Delaware 0: The shots just weren’t falling in favor of the Blue Hens Tuesday evening at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium as No. 19 Virginia Tech shut out Delaware, 2-0.

College field hockey

Neumann 2, Wesley 1: The Wolverines took an early lead, but ultimately dropped a contest in double overtime to the Neumann Knights on Tuesday evening at Drass Field. Wesley scored in the first five minutes, but fell 2-1 in the extra period.

Wesley goalkeeper Sidney Knott made a career-high 12 saves and Taylor Timmons netted the goal for the Wolverines as the squad took 17 shots and 11 penalty corners. Morgan Seymour earned a defensive save for the Wolverines.

College volleyball

St. Francis 3, Delaware State 0: Delaware State won the opening set for the first time in a match this season, but failed to hold on in a loss to St. Francis Brooklyn in the Hornets’ 2016 home opener in Memorial Hall.

DSU won the first set 25-21 before the Terriers bounced back to win the next three 25-18, 25-21 and 25-20.

Sydney Armbrister and Sabina Szmajduch led the Hornets with nine kills each. DSU’s Gabriella Enriquez topped all players with 29 assists, while teammate Aaliyah McBean recorded a match-high 17 digs.
