Josia Larkins’ one-yard touchdown run in the fourth lifted Caravel to a 14-7 victory over Cape Henlopen in nonconference football on Friday night.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Vikings (6-2), who were celebrating homecoming.

In a contest that was scoreless at halftime, Cape tied it at 7-7 on Kolbi Wright’s six-yard TD run and Hunter Simmons’ PAT kick in the third quarter.

The Vikings host Smyrna on Friday night with the Henlopen Northern Division title on the line. Both squads are 4-0 in the North.

Delmar 47, Indian River 28: The Wildcats won their fifth straight game and remained undefeated in the Henlopen South.

Delmar plays at Milford next Friday night.

Sussex Central 49, Polytech 14: The Golden Knights improved to 3-2 in the North, 5-3 overall with the victory on Friday night.

Field hockey

Lake Forest 2, Laurel 0: Kaitlin Stahre and Emily Joseph both tallied second-half goals to lifet the Spartans to the Henlopen Conference win.

Goalie Brooke Tucker made two saves to earn the shutout for the Spartans, who finished with advantages of 18-2 in shots and 14-2 in corners.

Laurel’s Leah Miller made 16 saves.

Sussex Tech 4, Seaford 0: Baylee Ketterman scored twice to spark the Ravens to the conference win.

Aynasti Bowden and Erin Kay also scored goals for the Ravens, who took 33 shots in the contest.

Seaford’s Yeliz Kurt made 26 saves.

Volleyball

Sussex Tech 3, Lake Forest 2: The Ravens pulled out the victory in the 25-20, 27-25, 22-25, 23-25, 15-11 match.

Brooke Ward (10 kills, 5 aces, 14 digs), Kayla Booros (3 aces, 24 digs) and Emily Gundry (2 aces, 7 digs, 16 assists) paced Sussex Tech.

College field hockey

Delaware 3, Northeastern 0: The ninth-ranked Blue Hens broke the school record with their 12th consecutive win while clinching the CAA regular-season title on Friday,

The Hens (5-0 CAA, 16-2 overall) will host the four-team CAA Tournament on Friday and Sunday. William & Mary, James Madison and Drexel have also clinched berths into the league’s postseason tournament.

Sophomore Michaela Scanlon led off with her second career goal in the 21st minute. Senior Marjelle Scheffers assisted on the play as she sent the ball in from outside of the circle while Scanlon tipped in from about five yards out.

Fellow sophomore Greta Nauck tied the program’s single-season goal mark in the 39th minute as she notched her 22nd goal of the season. The final goal came from another pair of seniors as Meghan Winesett fed the pass into Esmée Peet, who posted her sixth goal of the year.

The Hens are currently 9-0 at home.

College volleyball

Delaware State 3, Coppin State 1: Sabina Szmajduch had 19 kills and 11 digs, while NaKia Jones tallied 12 kills to lead Delaware Stateto the  25-22, 25-21, 16-25 and 25-21 win.

The Hornets (1-25) won for the first time this season and avenged a home loss to the Eagles on Oct. 7.

Szmajduch, who sat out the first Coppin State match this season due to injury, notched season highs in kills and digs in the tonight’s rematch. She posted a .318 hitting percentage in the contest (44 attempts). The 12 kills by Jones marked a career-high. She had just two errors on 23 attacks for a .435 hitting percentage in the match.

DSU setter Gabriella Enriquez had a career-best 36 assists, while Aaliyah McBean led all players with 17 digs and tied for match-high honors with three service aces.
