Dover High scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cap off its season-opening 13-3 victory over Lake Forest in Henlopen Conference baseball on Thursday afternoon.

The Senators had 13 hits in the contest, including three each from Jared Hickox (2 runs) and Noah Lanouette and two apiece from Michael Carrington (3 runs) and Dominic Velazquez.

Pitcher Hiram Davis went three-plus innings to earn the win while Jarvis Worthy scored three times.

Jordan Thomas had a hit and an RBI for the Spartans.

Milford 5, Caesar Rodney 1: Bryce Greenly’s two-run homerun sparked a four-run seventh that carried the Buccaneers to the victory.

Greenly, Caden Stanley and William Kimmel had two hits apiece for Milford, which tied the contest at 1-1 with a run in the fourth.

Brandon Hatch singled home Parker Garrison in the second for the Riders, who were making their debut under coach Jeff Gravatt.

Sussex Tech 1, Sussex Central 0: The Ravens scored the game’s only run in the top of the third to post the victory.

Parkside 5, Woodbridge 1: Parkside scored three first-inning runs before going on to the nonconference win.

Gabriel Wescott doubled for the Raiders.

St. Andrews 15, St. Thomas More 4: The Cardinals led only 7-4 before finishing the five-inning contest with an eight-run fifth.

Benjamin Stant doubled for the Ravens.

Smyrna 9, Indian River 2: The Eagles broke the game open with a four-run sixth as they won their season opener on Wednesday.

Reliever Nolan Henderson struck out seven in three innings and also had two hits, including a double. Nate Ridgeway and Brandt Penuel added two hits apiece while Logan Strickland had a two-run single in the third.

Jacob Anderson was 2-for-4 for the Indians.

Softball

Milford 9, Caesar Rodney 2: Rajene Bowe had three hits and Nia Bowe added two to pace the Buccaneers.

Pitcher Morgan Abbott earned the victory for Milford, which scored nine runs in a row after falling behind 1-0.

Courtney Malin (3 hits), Carissa Thorne (2 hits) and Sophia Badell (2) all contributed to a nine-hit attack for the Riders, who committed 10 errors.

Sussex Tech 7, Sussex Central 4: Shannon Lord’s hit sparked a three-run fourth inning that lifted the Ravens to the win.

Taylor Wroten pitched a six-hitter to earn the win.

Smyrna 10, Indian River 5: The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead before picking up the win on Wednesday.

Smyrna had 15 hits in the contest, getting multiple hits from Lexi Moore, Sara Miller, Olyvia Smith, Madison Drummond, and Olivia Faragher. Smith struck out four in earning the win.

Grace Snyder had a pair of hits for the Indians.

Delmarva Christian 18, Seaford 0: Winning pitcher Camryn Thompson pitched a five-inning two-hitter with six strikeouts while adding three hits and five RBI for the Royals.

Ashlyn Stonebraker added a pair of doubles, three RBI and four runs.

North Caroline 22, St. Thomas More 0: The Ravens managed only two hits in the setback.

Girls’ soccer

Cape Henlopen 3, Milford 2: Lindsey Swontek tallied two goals in a three-minute span of the first half before the Vikings held off the Buccaneers.

Hannah Bieler also scored as Cape took a 3-0 lead into halftime. The Vikings finished with advantages of 13-5 in shots and 8-3 in corner kicks.

Milford rallied on goals from Brianna Blessing and Daphne Leighty in the 69th and 78th minute. Megan Wolfe stopped 10 shots.

Polytech 9, Seaford 1: Samantha Stafford, Jaydin Crow and Viktoria Winfield netted two goals apiece to pace the Panthers to the season-opening victory.

Meadow Watkinson, Paxton McGinnity and Jennah McDuff also scored for Polytech, which led 7-1 at halftime.

Indian River 9, Sussex Central 0: Madison Hogsten tallied three goals and an assist to pace the Indians.

Isabella Keith added a pair of goals with Samantha Whelen (2 assists), Margaret Ford, Skyler McClure and Avery Congleton (1 assist) also scoring.

The Golden Knights’ Stephanie Lane stopped five shots.

Delmarva Christian 6, Howard 0: Skylar Bennett collected two goals and an assist in the first half to pace the Royals.

Mara Agapito (2 assists), Hannah Slacum, Hannah Czapp and Briana Taylor tallied Delmarva Christian’s other goals. The Royals held advantages of 15-0 in shots and 8-2 in corner kicks.

Middletown 7, Delmar 2: The Cavaliers built a 5-1 halftime lead before posting the victory.

Logan Walls had both goals for the Wildcats, who were outshot 18-5. Julia Johnson made 11 saves.

Lacrosse

GIRLS, Polytech 14, Indian River 3: Madi McKay netted nine of the Panthers’ 14 goals in their season-opening win.

Cam Dennis added two goals and a pair of assists with Madison Knight, Tara Bond and Cecilia Carter all tallying a goal and an assist.

Shannon Stephan made six saves for Polytech, whic outshot IR, 27-17.

College football

PSU lineman lands at UD: According to media outlet 247 Sports, Penn State offensive lineman Noah Beh is transferring to Delaware.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder played in 13 games for the Nittany Lions in 2015 but sat out last season for a violation of team rules.

A former three-star recruit, he would have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

College baseball

Washington College 6, Wesley 4: Jay Felts’ three-run homer in the sixth lifted the Shoremen.

Mike Calavarese went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Wolverines (11-7) while Trey Mears (Sussex Central), Cody Dmiterchik (Cape Henlopen) and John Joines adding two hits each.
