Chloe Donigan struck out 13 and didn’t allow a hit as Camden-Wyoming opened the 8-9-10-year-old softball District I tournament with a 9-1 victory over Smyrna-Clayton on Saturday afternoon.
Donigan also tripled and scored three runs for Camden-Wyoming. Ellie McCarthy had two hits and two runs while Peyton Lugsch and Mackenzie Mitchell also scored twice.
Camden-Wyoming, the tournament host, will play again today at 7:30 against the winner of Saturday’s late game between Felton-Harrington and M.O.T.
American Legion baseball
Fox Post-2 wins a pair: Fox Post-2 won a doubleheader against Durney-Post 27 on Saturday.
The Dover-area squad won both games by a score of 7-0. Fox Post-2 improved to 8-5 overall on the summer.

PBA Amateur Qualifier: Three spots in next month’s PBA tournament at Mid County Bowling Lanes will be up for grabs when the Middletown center holds an Amateur Qualifier, Saturday, July 15, at 1 pm. Open to amateur men and women USBC sanctioned bowlers. the six-game Qualifier will award its top three finishers entry into the PBA Gene Carter’s Pro Shop Classic, August 19-20.
