Senior Kourtney Olsen netted 10 goals as the Caesar Rodney High girls’ lacrosse team defeated Sussex Academy 20-2 on Friday afternoon.

With the win, the Riders moved back to .500 on the season at 6-6. They have three games remaining (Middletown, Tower Hill, Indian River) before the end of the year.

Karly Timmons provided a hat-trick for CR while Delaney Steele and Tara Daddio each scored a pair of goals. Also with goals for the Riders were Maegan Stewart, Kacie Cava and Lauren Alava.

Steele dished out a team-high seven assists for the Riders.

Cape Henlopen 14, Tower Hill 6: Lizzie Frederick paced the Vikings with four goals and Cailey Thornburg added three.

Katie Klabe, Eddy Shoop and Alia Marshall each scored a pair of goals while Tess Bernheimer had one. Izzy Cryne recorded eight saves for Cape Henlopen.

BOYS, Red Lion 15, Dover 11: Red Lion outscored the Senators 5-1 in the fourth quarter to earn the nonconference victory.

College sports

Hens cancel baseball, softball games: Due to inclement weather in the area all day, the University of Delaware baseball and softball home games vs. Elon scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. have been postponed.

The softball game will not be made up. The Blue Hens and Phoenix will play a noon doubleheader today at the UD Softball Stadium to close the regular season.

The baseball game will be made up today, as Delaware and Elon will now play a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Bob Hannah Stadium. The series then concludes with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.

College basketball

DSU women announce summer camp: Under the direction of head coach Barbara Burgess, the Delaware State women’s basketball program announced the dates for its inaugural Lady Hornet Elite Player Basketball Camp, which will be held June 10 – 11.

The camp will be conducted in the Memorial Hall gymnasium and Wellness Recreational Center, located on the main campus of Delaware State University.

You must be a female high school student in order to attend. You also have to submit a $50 per player deposit fee (non-refundable) before Friday, May 27, along with the completed application and waiver forms. The total cost for the camp is $125 per player.

The camp will offer the following: Advanced drills to drastically improve your game, breakfast, lunch and dinner provided, competitive five-on-five scrimmages, air-conditioned residence halls and workout facilities and an official “Lady Hornet Elite Player” T-shirt

College golf

Hens in 16th at Regional: The University of Delaware fired a 305 score on Friday to finish the day tied for 16th place following the second round of the NCAA Women’s Golf Bryan Regional.

Delaware, which carded a 311 score during Thursday’s opening round, is currently tied for 16th out of 18 teams at the regional with a two-round total of 616. No. 11 Arizona leads the field with a 567 score, following by third-ranked UCLA at 568 and sixth-ranked Georgia at 569.

Blue Hen senior Vimonthip Benjasupawan fired a one over par 73 on the par 72, 6,373-yard Traditions Golf Club course, ending the day tied for 60th place in the individual standings with a seven over par 78-73-151. Starting on the 10th hole, Benjasupawan opened her round with four pars and a birdie on 12, before two pairs and a pair of bogeys dropped her to one over through the back nine. After a bogey on 3 and a birdie on 4, she closed her round with five consecutive pars to finish the round one over.

Fellow senior Andi Slane celebrated her 23rd birthday by carding a four over par 76, as she ended the round tied for 42nd place at 72-76-148, four over par. Slane posted 15 pars and just three bogeys during Friday’s action.

Classmate Nathalie Filler fired her second consecutive five over par 77, putting her in a tie for 71st place with a 10 over par 77-77-154. Filler birdied 15, 4 and 8 during her round, while adding 10 pars.

Junior Grace Chua recorded a seven over par 79 on Friday, as she ended the day in 89th place at 84-79-163, 19 over par. Chua’s lone birdie of the day came on the 18th hole, while she added nine pars during her round.

Vitoria Teixeira carded an eight over par 80 during her second round, ending the day tied for 91st place with a 21 over par 85-80-165. Teixeira birdied 13 and 18 during a two over par back nine, before recording a six over front nine.
