Tim Haugh’s three-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Caesar Rodney High to a walk-off 5-4 victory over Lake Forest in Henlopen Conference baseball on Thursday afternoon.

CR (4-1 in conference, 4-3 overall) trailed 4-0 after the third inning. Haugh, Levi Kapp and Quentin Ivy all had two hits with Brennen Brown adding the Riders’ other hit and driving in a run.

Reliever Charlie Entenman gave up only two hits in five innings to earn the win.

Logan Simpson drove in three of the Spartans’ four runs, hitting a two-run homerun in the third.

Smyrna 10, Sussex Central 4: With the game tied 4-4, Ryan Seymour’s two-run triple sparked a five-run fifth that carried the Eagles to the conference victory.

Shawn Dulin had three of Smyrna’s 14 hits, winning pitcher Corey Everage had two hits with Nolan Henderson adding a triple and double.

For the Knights, Robbie Marcelle had four hits and scored twice while D.J. Doherty added two hits.

Polytech 6, Woodbridge 1: The Panthers took control of the game with a four-run second.

Joseph Haass and Miguel Rivera combined to pitch a two-hitter for Polytech, which got hits from Kalvin Bahel, Michael Obermire, Haass and Adrian Hill (1 stolen base).

Doug Avery had both of the Raiders’ hits.

Seaford 9, Del. Academy of Public Safety & Security 4: Winning pitcher Evan Nibblett hit a pair of doubles as the Blue Jays (1-4) picked up their first win of the season.

Noah Waldridge, Justin Gray and Jair Moore also had multiple hits for Seaford.

Softball

Caesar Rodney 9, Lake Forest 2: The Riders scored three runs in both the second and third innings en route to the Henlopen Conference win.

Janaya Harris had a pair of doubles for CR with pitcher Alyssa Ball earning the victory.

Lake’s Katherine Betts had a double, triple and homerun.

Smyrna 8, Sussex Central 3: Kaelyn Press had two hits, including a homer, and three RBI to pace the Eagles to the win.

Winning pitcher Sydney Botsch struck out eight for Smyrna, which led 8-0 going into the sixth.

Brooke Stoeckel drove in a pair of runs for Central, while Kasie Simpson had two hits and scored a run.

Polytech 12, Woodbridge 1: The Panthers scored three runs in four different innings in posting the victory.

Brandi Dalious, who homered, and Whitney DeMora had three hits apiece while winning pitcher Shaina Reed, Taylor Pechin, and Kailey Perry all added two hits. Reed struck out 11.

Pitcher Hailey Andrews (1 RBI) and Brady Keeler both had two hits for Woodbridge.

Sussex Tech 17, Dover 2: Nicole Hovatter had two hits and drove in four runs to pace the Ravens.

Lauren Genshaw and Madison Watson also had two hits for Sussex Tech, which led only 3-2 before scoring eight runs in the third.

Monica Joseph hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Dover.

Cape Henlopen 13, Red Lion 3: Sydney Ostroski hit a pair of triples and scored three runs to spark the Vikings to the nonconference win.

Cape broke open a 2-0 contest with nine runs in the fourth. Hannah Jones (2-for-2) and Samantha Frederick both had an RBI and scored twice while winning pitcher Riley Shields added a pair of runs.

Also for the Vikings, Jordyn Virden had an RBI and a run scored.

St. Elizabeth 14, Seaford 4: The Vikings finished off the nonconference win with seven runs in the fourth.

Girls’ soccer

Dover 4, Seaford 0: Kathryn Ford tallied three goals and an assist in the first half as the Senators won their second game in a row.

Taylor Hutchins also scored for Dover, which held advantages of 17-2 in shots and 5-0 in corner kicks.

Goalie Tomajah Whaley made 14 saves for Seaford.

Smyrna 7, Woodbridge 0: Samantha Greim and Nnennaya Okorie scored two goals each as the Eagles improved to 5-1.

Stacey Staley (3 assists), Casey Bell and Allison Hubert also scored goals for Smyrna while goalies Cassidy Cook and Emily Fardoulis combined for three saves. The Eagles outshot the Raiders, 25-3.

Altia Anderson and Morgan Absher combined to stop 18 shots for Woodbridge.

Polytech 4, Delmar 0: Alyssa Jacobs tallied three second-half goals as the Panthers pulled away to their first win of the season.

Meadow Watkinson scored a first-goal for Polytech, which outshot the Wildcats, 14-6.

Sussex Tech 2, Milford 0: Michelle Laz scored a goal in each half to lead the Ravens to the win.

Leslie Fazio made a pair of saves as Sussex Tech held advantages of 16-3 in shots and 10-3 in corner kicks.

Hailey Morgan stopped 12 shots for the Buccaneers.

Indian River 6, Cape Henlopen 0: The Indians blanked the Vikings in a nonconference game.

Lacrosse

BOYS, Lake Forest 15, Indian River 14: Austin Aguilar (1 assist) scored five goals as the Spartans edged the Indians.

Benjamin Moore (3 assists) and Carter Kenton (2 assists) both added three goals while David Gustafsson scored twice. Ryan Sipple and Parker Sard added Lake’s other goals.

Caesar Rodney 12, Sussex Tech 4: Thomas Aloe tallied six goals as the Riders improved to 7-0.

CR, which led 9-2 at halftime, also got a pair of goals and two assists from Sean MacLeish as it outshot the Ravens, 25-14. David Schmidt, Luke Rankin, Cameron Gillette and Nolan Aloe also scored for the Riders while Tyler Gross made six saves.

Jacob Ryan made nine saves for Sussex Tech while Jason Whaley (1 assist), Nathaniel Quillen, Ian Carlisle and Matthew Tull all scored goals.

GIRLS, Smyrna 15, Hodgson 3: Bailey Grey (1 assist) and Allison Wheatley netted four goals apiece to lead the Eagles.

Cathryn Holford and Shabnam Noroozi-Pooya added two goals each for Smyrna, which led 7-2 at halftime. The Eagles outshot Hodgson, 33-10.

Cape Henlopen 13, St. Mark’s 5: The Vikings scored six goals in the first half and seven more in the second in registering the victory.

Caesar Rodney 15, Brandywine 5: Kourtney Olsen netted five goals and a pair of assists to pace the Riders (2-4) to the win on Wednesday.

Delaney Steele added four goals, Kacie Cava had three, Abigail Wearden scored two and Eibhlin Steele had one. Goalie Kaitlyn Longest made 11 saves as CR finished with a 31-17 edge in shots.

College baseball

Christopher Newport 18, Wesley 5: The Wolverines were eliminated from the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament after the second-round loss at Frostburg on Thursday morning.

Leading 10-4, the Captains (16-13) broke the game wide open with eight runs in the top of the ninth. Ryan Saxman was the lone Wolverine with two hits while Mike Calavrese had a team-high two RBI for Wesley (10-18).
