Caesar Rodney High outscored Sussex Tech by nine points in the fourth quarter to post a 36-24 victory over the Ravens in Henlopen Northern Division girls’ basketball on Tuesday night.

Kylie Kornegay-Lucas had a game-high 16 points for the Riders in a contest that was tied at halftime.

The 36-point total was a season-low for CR (16-1).

Rukiya Davis netted 14 points for Sussex Tech (11-4), which had a seven-game winning streak snapped. The Ravens’ 24-point total was a season low for them as well.

Cape Henlopen 45, Dover 35: The Vikings overcame a nine-point halftime deficit, scoring the final 15 points of the game in picking up the North victory.

Smyrna 54, Polytech 53: The Eagles edged the Panthers for their first Henlopen North win of the season.

Milford 62, Indian River 20: Rajene Bowe netted 21 points to lead the Buccaneers to the Henlopen South win.

Milford led by only two points before outscoring the Indians, 55-15, over the final three quarters.

Jameshia Baker (12) and Kiarra Brittingham (11) also scored in double figures for Milford.

Fabrea McCray tallied 13 points for IR.

St. Thomas More 58, Dickinson 25: The Ravens opened up a 53-21 lead after three quarters before notching the win.

Aniah Patterson (19 points), Jessica Simmons (16) and Nicole Rainford (13) led the way for St, Thomas More.

Laurel 45, Delmar 37: The Bulldogs downed the Wildcats in the South matchup.

Boys’ basketball

Smyrna 77, Polytech 37: Azubuike Nwankwo tallied 18 points with Caleb Matthews adding 17 as the Eagles (14-2) stretched their winning streak to nine games in a row.

Matthews sank five three-pointers for Smyrna, which built a 39-22 halftime advantage in the North contest. Zion Cole scored 10 points.

The Panthers’ Joey Haas had 15 points after also making five three-pointers. Carter Chasanov added 13 points.

Caesar Rodney 77, Sussex Tech 44: Five players scored in double figures for the Riders, who hit 10 three-pointers in the Henlopen North win.

CR’s Shaft Clark (12), Timothy Spence (12), Joseph Wiliams (11), John Campiglia (10) and Davione Robinson (10) all reached double digits. Five different Riders hit threes.

Jaquan Burton (14) and Elshaddai Mifflin (10) paced Sussex Tech.

Woodbridge 62, Lake Forest 47: The Raiders finished the contest on a 23-9 run to register the Henlopen South win.

Hassan Corbin (19 points), Cornell Corbin (18) and Te’Vion Waters (14) all scored in double figures for Woodbridge, which is now 12-0 in the South.

Isaiah Morris had a game-high 23 points for the Spartans, sinking four three-pointers, with Kobe Mumford chipping in with 12.

Seaford 62, Sussex Academy 25: Andrez Jones tallied 26 points to spark the Blue Jays to the South win.

Vance Correa (13) and Deshaun Taylor (10) also scored in double figures for Seaford.

Zachary Zalewski netted 16 points to lead the Seahawks.

Indian River 54, Milford 47: The Indians used a 17-7 run in the fourth quarter to pull out the South victory.

Jamier Felton (15 points, 9 rebounds), K.J. Custis (11 points) and Isaiah Bratton (8 points, 14 rebounds) led IR.

Christopher Sampson had a team-high 19 points for the Buccaneers with Brion Murray scoring 11.

Laurel 53, Delmar 38: The Bulldogs broke open a one-point game by outscoring the Wildcats, 33-19, in the second half.

Laurel’s Brandon Faulk finished with a game-high 20 points while Yolnex Gustin chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds, four steals and a block.

Brooks Parker led Delmar with 17 points.

Worcester Prep 45, Delmarva Christian 43: Austin Giltner scored 11 points for the Royals in the loss.

College basketball

Wolverines’ Cameron honored: Wesley College freshman guard Brian Cameron was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Cameron had two 20-plus point performances last week as the Wolverines split two conference games. Cameron shot 69.2 percent from the field (18-for-26) and went 4-of-8 from behind the three-point line. He has scored 20 or more points in seven of the last 11 games.

College soccer

Hens sign eight recruits: New University of Delaware women’s soccer coach Mike Barroqueiro announced the addition of eight high school recruits on Tuesday.

The recruiting class includes forward/midfielder Dominique Davis, defender Helen Dyer, defender Maria Gentile, defender/midfielder Sydney Gilmore, midfielder Gabrielle Johnson, defender/midfielder Olivia Shuck, forward/midfielder Elizabeth Weimer, and forward Sabrina Kunimoto.

“They are a strong collection of players from some of the top clubs on the East Coast,” said Barroqueiro. “With our usual strong, local representation we know we are getting players with the right level of experience to compete immediately in the CAA. With a few incomers joining us from outside the region, we will add a different style of play to our group that will help complement what we already have here. It’s certainly a great step in the right direction toward becoming a top team in the CAA.”

The list of recruits hails from five different states, including two from Virginia and one each from Georgia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The group includes six student-athletes who have played midfield during their careers, three who played forward, and four who played defense.
