Rebuilding Seaford aims to keep making progress

Six wins in two football seasons may not sound like much.

But when you consider that Seaford High was a combined 6-52 in its previous six seasons, the Blue Jays’ 6-13 mark over the past two years actually represents progress.

Seaford will try to build off last fall’s 2-8 campaign when it opens its season on Sept. 13 by hosting First State Military at 6 p.m.

Along with its victories last season, the Blue Jays lost a pair of Henlopen Conference Southern Division games by seven points or less.

Returning for Seaford this season is Ray Brady (Jr.), a second-team All-South fullback last season, who will play quarterback and linebacker this year.

Also returning for the Blue Jays are FB/DB-Sihon Evans (Jr.), WR/OLB-Tim Kilgore (Sr.), HB/DB-Johnny Cetuete (Sr.) and TE/OLB-Dievens Lebreton (Jr.).

Among the newcomers who are expected to contribute for Seaford are OT/DE-Michael Lewis (Sr.), WR/DB/K/P-Zane Adams (So.) and C/LB-Ashton Wyatt (Jr.).

The Jays will play five of their nine games at home this year, including a stretch of three straight home contests in the middle of the season. Seaford hasn’t won more than four games in a season since before 2008.
