BRIDGEVILLE - Once again it is time for the annual World Championship Punkin Chunkin, Nov. 4-6 back at the Wheatley Farm in Bridgeville after a two-year hiatus.

This year, over 100 teams from around the world are traveling to Sussex county with their trebuchets, centrifugals, torsions, catapults and of course air cannons to compete for the coveted one-mile shot and a new world record. With two years of testing and tuning away from the annual competition, teams are eager to see how they will stack up against other competitors who they haven’t seen recently.

The are many family-friendly activities to keep every spectator entertained throughout the day. The day will include bands including Judy Sings the Blues, Lincoln City and Scrapple, vendors, the Pumpkin Cookin Contest, Chili Cook-Off contest, Miss Punkin Chunkin Pageant, a beer garden, as well as games and fun for the kids.

Science Channel will be covering the Chunk once again this year, bringing “Mythbusters” alumni Kari Byron and Tory Belleci, as well as co-host Kyle Hill to cover the event. The show will debut on Nov. 26 at 8 p.m.

Tim Smith from the popular show “Moonshiners” will be stopping by Punkin Chunkin on Saturday. Stop by near team Second Amendment (air cannon) to say hello.

Tickets are $10 for Friday, $15 for Saturday or Sunday or $35 for a weekend pass. Children under 10 are admitted free.
