Mira Prisco netted four goals as the Dover High girls’ lacrosse team defeated Smyrna 11-7 on Saturday afternoon.

The Senators (4-1) also got two-goal games from Natalie Glascock, Grace Gast and Ave Burleigh. Ashley Manifold added a goal of her own too.

Smyrna (2-3) was paced by hat tricks from Madeline Price and Cathryn Holford.

Queen Anne’s (Md.) 15, Cape Henlopen 4: Sarah Tappan, Lexi Woodruff, Lizzie Frederick and Cailey Thornburg had the goals as the Vikings fell in the out of state matchup.

Baseball

Smyrna 5, Newark 4: Shawn Dulin and Ryan Seymour each had a single, double and one RBI while Nolan Henderson provided a pair of hits.

Mike Carrow pitched five innings for the win while striking out six as the Eagles improved to 4-2.

Archmere 3, Caesar Rodney 1: The Riders dropped the nonconference contest after the Auks broke a 1-1 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Brennen Brown doubled to lead the CR offense.

Salesianum 5. Sussex Central 4: The Sals used a two-run final inning to deal Sussex Central a nonconference defeat. Trey Toppin hit two doubles and had two RBIs for the Golden Knights.

Delmarva Christian 10, Salisbury Christian (Md.) 6: The Royals scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally. Brayden Troyer and Trent Mills each doubled for Delmarva Christian.

Indian River 10, Delmar 5: The Indians scored eight runs in the fifth as Eddie Hogan came in relief to pick up the win and shut out Delmar for five innings.

Deshawn Aiken knocked in three runs for IR, scored once and stole a base. Billy Murray added an RBI and a run while Jake Hudson doubled and scored twice.

Delmar was led by Kavon Trader’s three RBIs and Christian Murphy who was 2-for-4 with one RBI and a double.

Appoquinimink 13, Cape Henlopen 0: The Vikings were shut out in a nonconference matchup on Saturday.

Boys’ lacrosse

Caesar Rodney 18, Tatnall 1: David Schmidt paced the Riders with six goals and Sean MacLeish added four.

Luke Rankin scored twice and Thomas Aloe, Pat Matsko, Nolan Aloe, Jack Bobel, Levi Gable and Zachary Prebula all had one goal. Thomas Aloe recorded a team-high four assists.

Polytech 17, Hodgson 6: Thomas Gilmore scored four times and had four assists while Jeremy Armann had a hat trick and dished out five assists.

Jake Davis, Zachary Trabaudo, Jared Wagenhoffer and Josh Davis all scored twice for the Panthers who earned their first win of the season.

Cape Henlopen 13, St. Mark’s 4: Michael Hopkins’ hat trick lifted the Vikings to a nonconference win on Saturday.

Sussex Tech 8, St. Andrew’s 7: The Ravens scored twice in the fourth quarter to break a 6-6 tie and were led by Jason Whaley’s four goals.

Softball

Smyrna 22, Newark 1: Madelynne Rodriguez went 4-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs. Tayler John, Olivia Faragher, and Samantha Jamison added three RBIs each for Smyrna.

College lacrosse

MEN, Drexel 9, Delaware 8: Delaware fought back with four goals in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime, but the rally went without a reward Saturday.

Down 5-3 at halftime and trailing 7-5 heading into the final stanza, Delaware (4-9, 0-3 CAA) sent the game into overtime on a goal by senior attackman Tom Holland with just six seconds left in regulation, but the Hens could not complete the comeback as Drexel’s Cole Shafer scored just under two minutes into the extra session to clinch the victory.

The Blue Hens, who suffered their fourth straight setback and remained winless in CAA play, got three goals from Holland while senior Brian Kormondy added two goals and an assist, sophomore midfielder Jackson Finigan contributed a goal and an assist, and senior defender Matt Matsko (Caesar Rodney) and senior attackman Beau Jones also tallied goals.

Senior goalkeeper Brett Anton recorded 15 saves.

Holland, who also tied the game at 7-7 with a goal with 6:12 left in the fourth quarter, tallied his 50th career goal during the game as did Kormondy, who now has 51 for his career. Senior defender Brandon Worrall recorded his 48th career caused turnover during the game to move into second place all-time at Delaware.

WOMEN, Manhattan 16, Delaware State 5: Manhattan scored the first three goals and last seven of the game en route to a win over Delaware State.

The Hornets, coming off their first-ever win on Wednesday, fell to 1-13 this season, while the Jaspers improved to 3-11.

Megan Yarusso scored five goals and Domenica O’Bey came off the bench to tally four to lead Manhattan. O’Bey also had an assist to tie Yarusso for game-high honors with five points.

Emily Etkins led Delaware State with two goals to set the Hornets’ single-season mark for the second straight year. Etkins has 22 goals this season, eclipsing the previous school record of 20 she set last season.

Lauren Perry, Kayla Yurkanin and Miranda Hawkins each scored a goal for the Hornets.

College softball

The Wolverines set a school-record for wins in a season with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Frostburg State in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Wolverines dropped game two, 1-0, and conclude the regular season with a 21-12 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the CAC.  The Bobcats now stand at 15-8 on the year and 6-4 in league play.

Lindsay Siok (Milford) had a fantastic day in the circle for Wesley, allowing no earned runs on just four hits while fanning four in the opening victory.
