DOVER — One suspect is in custody and another sought as investigation into the weekend shooting deaths of two people continues, the Delaware State Police said Monday.

Matthew Harrington Matthew Harrington

Matthew Harrington, 23, of Philadelphia, turned himself in at the Buckingham Township (Pennsylvania) Police Department at about 8 p.m. Sunday, and authorities said he is awaiting extradition to Delaware while being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

State police spokesman Richard Bratz said preliminary investigation found that three people were shot — two fatally — during a reported home invasion in the 1400 block of John Clark Road early Saturday morning.

Troopers were called to a Rodney Village residence at about 1:38 a.m.

Still at large and considered armed and dangerous is Saleem Shabazz, 21, of Philadelphia, whom police described as a slim black male about 6 feet tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds and wearing dark clothing. He allegedly was armed with unknown type of handgun.

Police said Mr. Shabazz and Mr. Harrington are facing charges of first-degree murder, two counts each of attempted robbery and first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first- and second-degree conspiracy.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle was described as possibly a four-door dark-colored SUV.

Police asked anyone with information on the alleged incident or the whereabouts of Mr. Shabazz to call 911 or contact Detective D. Grassi at 365-8441.

Information also may be given to Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333, by sending anonymous tips by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword DSP or at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.

Police said a 52-year-old Dover man, identified Sunday as Clifton Leager, and 18-year-old Philadelphia woman, Haley Henwood, died as a result of the incident, and an undisclosed adult male was transported from the scene by EMS to a local area hospital where he was treated and released.
