MAGNOLIA — A 19-year-old Dover man police consider armed and dangerous is sought on charges after an alleged shooting and assault Saturday night at a residential party, authorities said.

Through interviews and other investigative means, Denzel D. Braker was identified as a suspect in an alleged incident that sent two men to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said.

According to police, troopers arrived at a home in the 300 block of Marshview Terrace and found “numerous” persons at a party.

Initial investigation found that Mr. Braker allegedly produced a gun and assaulted a 20-year-old Magnolia man with it at approximately 8:50 p.m.

After that, police said, Mr. Braker allegedly used the gun to shoot a 30-year-old Dover man in the lower extremity. Police said Mr. Braker then fled the area in a gold Chevrolet Suburban with Delaware registration PC419746.

The injured Magnolia man refused treatment at the scene, police said, and later went to an undisclosed local hospital.

EMS took the Dover man who had been shot to an undisclosed local hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Cpl. Hale said Delaware State Police and Dover Police Department investigated at the scene.

State police detectives obtained warrants on Mr. Braker for charges including first-degree assault, second-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and four counts of first-degree reckless endangering.

Mr. Braker was described by authorities as a 5-foot-10, 140-pound black male with black hair and brown eyes.

Police cautioned anyone with information on Mr. Braker’s whereabouts not to approach him but to call 911 immediately.

Cpl. Hale said the investigation was ongoing and only limited information was available.
