Magnolia man indicted in drug trafficking probe

DOVER — A 39-year-old Magnolia man arrested in September at the conclusion of investigation into alleged widespread drug trafficking in Kent County was indicted on felony charges by a Grand Jury last week.

In Superior Court, Arthur D. Stratton was charged with two felony counts each of drug dealing and aggravated possession as part of an overall probe dubbed “Operation Spiritus” that brought the arrest of more than a dozen people on over 100 criminal charges after a six-month investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies,

According the indictment, Mr. Stratton is alleged to have knowingly possessed “with the intent to deliver 10 grams or more of cocaine or any cocaine mixture containing cocaine, a controlled substance as described in (Delaware Code), and the offense occurred in a vehicle” on or about Sept. 9.

Also, Mr. Stratton allegedly possessed with the intent to deliver 20 grams or more of cocaine, or a mixture containing cocaine, classified as a controlled substance in Delaware Code.

Mr. Stratton was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia. Alleged drug dealing was conducted at a dwelling in the first block of Cherry Drive in Magnolia, according to court papers.
