Local roundup: Lake Forest rallies to top Indian River 6-4 in field hockey

Freshman Lacey Hutson tallied Lake Forest High’s last two goals as the Spartans rallied for a 6-4 victory over Indian River in Henlopen South field hockey on Tuesday afternoon.

Lake Forest scored the final three goals of the game after falling behind 4-3. Malory Wood also scored twice with Haydan Parker and Roxanne Troutman adding Lake’s other goals.

Addyson Stewart made four saves for the Spartans, who finished with advantages of 29-8 in shots and 6-4 in corners.

The Indians got two goals and an assist from Emma Ruley. Kinsley Hall and Brynn McCabe also scored for IR with Caylee Schmidt making 23 saves.

Smyrna 5, Dover 2: Sophomore Dru Moffett collected three goals and an assist in the Eagles’ Henlopen North win on Tuesday.

Ryla Wilber and London Bebout also scored for Smyrna, which led 3-0 at halftime.

Jewels Goldman and Joslin Cain scored goals for the Senators.

Woodbridge 8, Laurel 1: The Blue Raiders tallied five second-half goals in the Henlopen South win on Tuesday.

Sts. Peter & Paul, Md. 10, Delmarva Christian 0: The Royals were blanked in their first game of the season on Wednesday.

Boys’ soccer

Dover 5, Smyrna 1: Ismail Ismail netted three goals and an assist in the Senators’ Henlopen North victory on Tuesday.

Bryson Mckenzie and Rolando Betancourt-Mejia (2 assists) had Dover’s other goals. The Senators finished with advantages of 16-3 in shots and 6-1 in corner kicks.

Robert Yeager scored for the Eagles with Caiden Smith making 16 saves.

Milford 4, Polytech 1: Brandon Zelaya Hernandez scored the Buccaneers’ first and last goals in their Henlopen North win on Tuesday,

Alexander Nash and Ian Fifer also scored for Milford, which held advantages of 11-3 in shots and 4-3 in corner kicks.
Kade Seip netted the Panthers’ goal.

Delmarva Christian 4, Salisbury Christian, Md. 3: The Royals went on a 3-1 run in the second half to rally for the victory and even their record at 2-2 on Wednesday.
