Georgetown shut out Camden-Wyoming, 3-0, to advance to the state finals in Senior League baseball on Thursday night.
The District III champions will face Brandywine (1-0) today at Newark National at 6:30 p.m. needing a win to force a second game for the title.
Georgetown (1-1), which hasn’t played Brandywine yet, avenged a 9-8 loss to Camden-Wyoming in its tourney opener.
Camden-Wyoming finishes 1-2 in the three-team double-elimination tournament.
Junior League
District I Tournament
Smyrna-Clayton 13, Dover 2: Smyrna-Clayton stayed alive in the losers’ bracket with the win on Thursday.
Smyrna-Clayton (1-1) will play again today at 7 p.m. at Dover.
Winning pitcher Braden Hurd threw a complete game and also had two hits, two walks and scored twice for Smyrna-Clayton. Felix Enriquez had a triple, double and three runs.
For Dover, Eythan Jenks had two hits and a walk while Caleb Smith had a hit and scored once.
M.O.T. 18, Dover 5: M.O.T. won its opener on Wednesday night as Landyn Washington went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Also pacing M.O.T. were Seth Correll (2-for-3, double, 4 RBI) and Garret Overby (2-for-3, double, 2 RBI) while Jimmy Apicella earned the win.
For Dover, Preston Lyon went 3-for-3 while Silas Coker and Eythan Jenks both had a pair of hits.
8-10 District I Tournament
Milford 13, Camden-Wyoming 8: Milford moved on to the district winners’ bracket finals with the win on Thursday.
Milford (2-0) will play again on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the tournament being played at M.O.T.
Rain Eisele (3-for-5), Austin Scott (3-for-4) and Crown Rosenquest (2-for-4) led Milford offensively while Scott struck out six.
Evan DuPont and Justice Smith had three hits apiece for Camden-Wyoming, which takes on Dover today at 8:30 p.m.
M.O.T. 17, Dover 0: In a first-round game played Thursday night, Ayden Markiewicz, Nathan Collins, Colton Murray, Kai Johnson (3 RBI), and Cody Bakhsh (3 RBI) all had multiple hits for M.O.T.
Pitcher Nathan Collins struck out six in two innings.
Milford 15, Smyrna-Clayton 0: In Wednesday’s opener, winning pitcher Crown Rosenquest struck out seven in three innings and also went 3-for-3 for Milford.
Aneurys Felix-Abad, Austin Scott, Colton Webb and Logan Dear all had two hits for Milford.
Evan Donahue and Landon Netsch both had hits for Smyrna-Clayton.
College lacrosse
Hornets honored for academics: Eleven members of Delaware State’s women’s lacrosse team have been recognized by the Southern Conference for their work in the classroom.
To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average at the conclusion of the semester of competition.
Delaware State women’s lacrosse has competed as an associate member in the Southern Conference since 2018. The Hornets will return to the Atlantic Sun Conference beginning in the 2022 season. DSU was previously an ASUN women’s lacrosse member in 2017.
