Special to the Delaware State News/Gary Emeigh[/caption] Sussex Tech High jumped out to a 12-point first-quarter lead before posting a 48-38 victory over Dover in Henlopen Northern Division girls’ basketball on Friday night. The win was the second in a row and fifth in the last six games for the Ravens (4-3 North, 7-3 overall). Airelle Parker scored 13 points with Janiya Stevens adding 10 for Sussex Tech, which beat the Senators for the second time this season. Tamyah Jones netted a game-high 14 points for Dover.

The win was the eighth in a row for Cape (9-1), which got double-digit scoring from Dania Cannon (18), Abigail Hearn (15) and Mehkia Applewhite (10). Jayla Smith had 16 points for Smyrna. Delmar 39, Seaford 35: Logan Walls netted 17 points to pace the Wildcats to the Henlopen South victory. Delmar out-scored the Blue Jays, 17-9, in the second half to overcome a four-point halftime deficit. Shaniya Briddell and Jada Evans tallied 12 points apiece for Seaford. Boys’ basketball Smyrna 66, Cape Henlopen 60: In a back-and-forth North matchup, the Eagles out-scored the Vikings, 18-14, in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Nahshon Sylvester netted 25 points while Izaiah Credle had 19 for Smyrna, which won its second in a row. The two players were a combined 17-of-24 from the foul line and sank five three-pointers. Cape’s Ja’Vaughn Burton (15), Kristoffer Rushin (13) and Joseph Kirby (10) all scored in double figures. Dover 72, Sussex Tech 60: Eden Davis and Elijah Allen combined for 54 points as the Senators improved to 11-0. Davis had 29 points with Allen scoring 25 for Dover, which led by nine at halftime. The Senators were 21-of-27 from the foul line compared to 8-for-18 for the Ravens. Skylar Johnson and Devon Reynolds both had 17 points for Sussex Tech.

Seaford 70, Delmar 56: The Blue Jays out-scored the Wildcats, 19-4, in the second quarter before going on to the South win.

Dickinson 62, ECHS@DSU 59: Jordan Hinman had 16 points with Kysair Hall-Murphy adding 14 for the Hornets, who couldn’t hold a six-point lead entering the fourth quarter. Wrestling Caesar Rodney 35, Salesianum 27: The Riders won five straight matches between 145 and 182 pounds before getting a 37-second pin from Kevin Hudson (285) in earning the non-conference victory. Jackson Dean (145) and Riley Tracy (160) also won by fall for CR.
