The Delaware women’s basketball team closed the regular season with a perfect home record, beating Towson 86-55 on Sunday afternoon at the Carpenter Center.

After collecting their seventh Colonial Athletic Association two-game series weep this season, the Blue Hens finish the regular season at 16-2 in the CAA, 19-3 overall. That includes an 11-0 mark at home.

Delaware is the only team in the CAA, men or women, to play a full 18-game conference slate this pandemic-impacted season.

As regular season champions, Delaware will be the No. 1 seed in the CAA Tournament in Elon, N.C. The Hens will face the winner of the 8/9 game in the quarterfinals at 2:30 p.m. on March 11.

Junior guard Jasmine Dickey led the Hens again with 30 points, 11 rebounds and four steals. It was the sixth double-double and fifth 30-point game of the season for her.

Forward Ty Battle recorded her CAA-leading 16th double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 boards to go with a pair of steals. Battle is now tied for second in Division I for double-doubles.

Delaware dominated on the glass for the second game in a row, out-rebounding Towson 55-38. The Hens converted 26 offensive rebounds into a 21-7 advantage in second-chance points.

Howard 80, Delaware State 74: The Hornets fell to 2-9 in the MEAC, 3-12 overall with the loss in their home finale.

DSU’s 10 seniors — Daije Harris, Demi Moore, Janasia Law, Kiana Coomber, Lyric Turner, Melissa Sam, Miajah Bullock, Shannon Dozier, Sharajah Collins, and Zoe Holmes — were honored before the game.

Coomber netted a team-high 16 points with six rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal. Dajie Harris and Janasia Law added nine points each, with Law also dishing out seven assists.

DSU wraps up its regular season with a two-game series at Morgan State on Wednesday and Thursday.

MEN, Coppin State 94, Delaware State 74: The Hornets fell behind by 24 at halftime before dropping their season finale on Sunday evening.

DSU, which is not eligible for the MEAC tournament, ends up 0-10 in the MEAC, 2-15 overall.

Dominik Fragala came off the bench to net a team-high 28 points for the Hornets while Myles Carter added 14 and D’Marco Baucum had 13. Fragala went 5-for-9 from three-point range.

Coppin State 81, Delaware State 68: Myles Carter was Delaware State’s high scorer with 17 points, while Zach Kent tallied 16 points and led the Hornets with 11 rebounds in the loss on Saturday night.

Kent, a Magnolia native, reached double figures in scoring in six straight and eight of his last nine games. He has also hit double figures in scoring and rebounding in the same game twice in his last three outings.

Dominik Fragala came off the bench to add 11 points for the Hornets.

Hens seeded fifth in CAA: Delaware will be seeded fifth in the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.

The Blue Hens (7-7) will face No. 4 Hofstra on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the first game of the day at the tourney, which is being played at James Madison. The winner of the contest will take on the winner of the matchup between top-seeded JMU and the winner of Saturday’s game between Elon and Towson.

Delaware will go into the tourney having not played a game for over a month because of COVID-19 issues.
