LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Of temper tantrums and Delaware elections

I would like to take this opportunity to offer my views on this year’s election cycle. First, I would like to congratulate my opponent for the Register of Wills office, Harold Brode. My goal this year was to ensure the people of Kent County had a choice for their elected officials. The people have spoken, and I am honored to have been part of the process. I would next like to thank the over 32,000 people who cast their votes for me. I am humbled by this. This was my first attempt at a bigger elected position. I traveled all over the county and saw parts of it I’ve never been to before. I spoke to friendly people, and had conversations that were enlightening. I was witness to the inspection of the voting machines and able to see the inner workings of how elections take place. What an eye-opening experience! I believe every citizen should “put themselves out there” at least once in their life. As a citizen, this was one of those times for me, and I contemplate doing it again in the future. As far as the statewide elections go, I am disappointed in the results. When will we get out of this cycle of the career politicians playing musical chairs? I just don’t want to hear anyone complain about what is to come. You’ve had years of Democrats in control, and what has it gotten us? State budget deficits, tax and spend, and always looking for more tax revenue. As has been said, we don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem! Hopefully, someday, people will wake up and realize we should give folks like Reigle, Bonini, Gunn, and Cragg a chance. So, I’m disappointed, but I’m not throwing a temper tantrum like I keep seeing on TV. No, I’m not throwing a tantrum; I’m preparing for the next election.
