Lately, our lives seem to depend upon second doses.
One dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine is not enough; a second is required for full protection.
Joe Biden’s presidential win was not enough; the win of the two Georgia Senate runoff elections was also required to pass the American Rescue Plan Act.
A simple majority in the Senate is not enough to do anything meaningful about voting-rights protection, gun control, infrastructure or the environment without removing or radically reforming the filibuster. Even removing the filibuster is not enough.
More liberal justices must be added to the Supreme Court now to prevent most or all of the above actions from being declared unconstitutional.
For those who say that the Democrats are too greedy for power, I say that all they are trying to do is level the playing field. There is no greater power grab than for the Republicans to try to increase gerrymandering and vastly restrict the vote, as they are now doing.
And who can forget their attempted coup Jan. 6?
