Letter to the Editor: Limbaugh was far from being ‘a man of God’

Posted

I physically felt as if I was about to hurl all over my keyboard reading Bill Sharpe’s “A eulogy for Rush Limbaugh” (Feb. 23).

My first, immediate thought was “Seriously?” Limbaugh a “national treasure” and a “man of God”? Really? A man who spent a lifetime spewing hate a “man of God”? Limbaugh was such a “Christian” he compared a 12-year-old Chelsea Clinton to a dog. Not so Christlike.

Limbaugh spent 40 years espousing hate — hate against women who dared to come out of the kitchen and think for themselves, hate against ethnic groups and Black Americans, even hate against actor Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease. Limbaugh even promoted mass-shooting, false-flag conspiracy theories. The list could go on for days. He espoused hate and contempt for everyone who was not a privileged White, Anglo-Saxon male. The way I see it is you can draw a straight line from Limbaugh’s disdainful commentary on immigration, minorities, ethnic groups and women straight to White supremacists and other fringe, alt-right groups

Celebrating a man who spent a lifetime spewing hateful rhetoric as some kind of national hero of moral standing is repulsive. Limbaugh was the antithesis of anything moral or Godlike.
