I find I must respond to the “Immigration questions raised” letter of Sept. 25.
Debbie Hilton repeats several of the false allegations of the college dropout Sean Hannity, such as: 1.) Immigrants are causing the increase in the cases of COVID-19; and 2.) The rise of immigrants is Joe Biden’s fault.
There is zero evidence that immigrants are increasing COVID-19 rates. We are seeing a surge in “red” areas where “freedumb” demands negate mask and vaccine mandates.
Immigrants come to our border out of desperation. The United States has ignored all of the Western Hemisphere to the south of us, except for exploitation by some of our corporations, essentially forever. It is truly a bipartisan problem.
Debbie worries immigrants will “empty our coffers.” If we would have billionaires and mega-corporations pay a fair amount of tax, there would be plenty of money.
