LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Debunking Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution

A fire-mist and a planet, A crystal and a cell, A jelly-fish and a saurian, And a cave where the cave-men dwell; Then a sense of law and beauty And a face turned from the clod — Some call it Evolution, And others call it God. — William Herbert Carruth [“Each in His Own Tongue”] Down through history, mankind has looked around him and marveled at the beauty and power of life and nature. Most concluded that there was a being that brought everything into being. Religions attempted to understand and build a relationship with this being. This scenario changed rapidly in 1859 when Charles Darwin published his “On the Origin of Species.” He started revolution that divided the world into two camps, those who believed that life was a product of random chance, with no meaning or purpose, and those who believed there was an intelligent Creator. The battle of ideas went on for many years, with the evolutionists steadily gaining ground. Eventually, their theories were taught in every school and college in this country and around the world. In 2009, there was a great celebration commemorating the 150th anniversary of the publication of “On the Origin of Species.” Presidents and professors from major universities spoke of the importance of Charles Darwin’s brilliant idea that dogs evolved into whales and monkeys into men. Little did they realize that a discovery by two scientists in England would start a whole new understanding of the creation and structure of life. Francis Crick and James Watson unraveled the mystery of the DNA molecule. Francis Crick stated that, “The DNA molecule is the most efficient storage system in the entire universe. The immensity of complex, coded and precisely sequenced information is absolutely staggering. The DNA evidence speaks of intelligent, information-bearing design. Complex DNA coding would have been necessary for even the first so-called simple cell. For life to form by chance is mathematically virtually impossible.” Darwin’s theory was only supported by circumstantial evidence; it was never a fact. The DNA molecule and its structure are now scientific facts, and their future importance are just beginning to unfold.
