Letter to the Editor: Carper, Coons should resign after voting against minimum wage hike

Posted

Most people you’ve met have never heard of Delaware. They say things like the people there don’t exist, it’s hard to find on a map or  it’s around two hours from the top to the bottom. Joe Biden, Wilmington and the University of Delaware are there, and like the interest of the Democrats, those things are in New Castle County.

As Joe Biden voted for the three-strike law, which imprisoned so many disenfranchised people in Delaware, Sens. Chris Coons and Tom Carper, both D-Del., are cementing what Delaware politics has always been about: protecting big business to maintain the class divide. Just as Delaware is divided into three counties, so are its class interests. In the middle of the pandemic, those two Democrats placed Wilmington and class privileges over the lives of its citizens. With any respect to their position, the state and the citizens they fail to serve, they must resign.

Carper defends his play by prizing the individual person who engages with the American dream through exploiting others.

Carper is giving back to the money that runs his ability to perform politics. Carper is taking the money from the poor, so that he can play like his rich buddies in Delaware business. Carper is taking to play. But he’s not alone.

Chris Coons didn’t have the confidence to publicly address his allegiances — he’s a young man compared to Uncles Joe and Tommy. And all we can surmise, as Delaware workers, is one thing: As long as you exploit others for the state, you are worthy to the state.

Chris Coons and Tom Carper voted for the exploiters. They must resign and be primaried immediately, so that someone will vote on behalf of Delaware and its workers. Delaware includes Kent and Sussex counties — you can’t let them, or Joe Biden, forget that.
