The pandemic is easing up. Things are slowly getting back to normal. Emergency mail-in voting will go away. That said, Republicans in the southern part of the state feel the need to fix a problem that did not exist in the last election.
Updating the voter registration rolls is a good idea. Where is the plan?
Photo ID and signature verification for absentee voters sound good, but how do you plan to do it? Where is the plan?
Fines and other penalties for anyone convicted of violating election laws are a good idea. They could be a useful tool in helping to keep voters and poll workers honest.
Here’s another good idea: Change Election Day from a Tuesday to a Saturday for all state and local elections. Make it easier for working people to get out and vote and save employers lost man-hours.
So get together, Republicans and Democrats. Make voting easier and more secure. You can get this done.
