Posted

DOVER –– At Tuesday’s Levy Court meeting, Jim Waddington of the Kent Economic Partnership gave the commissioners a preview of the topics to be discussed at the annual Kent County Economic Summit on Sept. 22.

The four main areas of focus will be festivals, food, factories and flight. Mr. Waddington especially highlighted the festivals portion in which he included NASCAR, Delaware Junction Country Music Festival, Big Barrel Country Music Festival and the ever-growing Firefly Music Festival which attracted an estimated 90,000 attendees and brought $68 million into the local economy.

The commissioners also voted to add the purchase of two new vehicles for Planning Services to next week’s consent agenda. The vehicles are $17,287 each and were included in the county’s fiscal year 2016 budget.

Levy Court meets next on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at 555 Bay Road in Dover. An agenda will be available online at co.kent.de.us.
