Inaugural Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K to be held Oct. 23 in Dover

DOVER — The inaugural Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K Run/Walk will take place Oct. 23 at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m.; the race will begin at 9. A healthy-kids run, free for runners 10 and younger, will take place at 8:50.

This is a rain-or-shine event.

Registration for the 5K is $25 per person through Oct. 16 and $30 per person on the day of the event. Checks should be made payable to the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation and mailed to TriSports Charitable Events, 2772 Hazlettville Road, Dover. Contact Ray at 674-3213 or ray@trisportsevents.com. Interested supporters who do not want to participate in the run/walk can sign up as a silent hero using the registration link.

All participants will receive a 2021 Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K Run/Walk shirt. Results and photos also will be posted online.

Runners and walkers will compete for unique awards for overall male, female and master’s winners. Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners in 10-year age groups, from 10 and under through 70 and over. Walk awards will be given to the top five male and female finishers. All healthy-kids run finishers will earn ribbons.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation, whose mission is to build awareness, understanding and positive public perception about Delaware’s farm operations and fresh, local food.
