Dickie Howell Richard L. Howell

A defense request to delay proceedings was granted earlier this week, and Richard L. “Dickie” Howell II, 51, now is scheduled to appear in Kent County Superior Court on Oct. 27 for a final case review, followed by a trial start on Nov. 2, according to the Delaware Department of Justice.

Mr. Howell previously was scheduled for a final case review today and trial next Wednesday.

Charges against Mr. Howell include 43 counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child in a position of trust, authority or supervision, and seven counts of sexual solicitation of a child. After indictment on April 6, he pleaded not guilty to all charges on April 30.

Deputy Attorney General Kathy Dickerson is prosecuting the case for the state, while lawyer Alex Funk is representing Mr. Howell.
