Caesar Rodney High rallied for the final eights runs of the contest to pull out a 14-10 victory over Appoquinimink in nonconference softball on Saturday afternoon.

CR (2-1), which had 18 hits in the game, scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to capture the win.

The Riders got mutiple hits from Courtney Malin, Alexxys Harris, Alyssa Ball, Sophia Badell, Alexis Howerin and Jazmine Stamas.

The Jaguars, who had 12 hits, led 9-2 in the top of the third.

Lake Forest 5, Milford 4: The Spartans scored twice in the fourth inning and once in the fifth to edge Milford.

DE Turf opener: The DE Turf sports complex hosted its first game Saturday afternoon with Lake Forest and Ursuline playing in a non-conference high school girls soccer game. It was the Spartans’ third-straight victory over the Buccaneers in the ‘Battle of the Bat’ played at Harrington Little League.

Brook Glanden doubled home Grace Aguilar to give Lake a 4-3 lead in the fourth. Kayla Thompson then added an insurance run on a solo homerun on a two-strike pitch in the fifth.

The Spartans (3-0 in conference, 3-0 overall) needed the extra run when Milford scored in the top of the sixth on an RBI from Julia Reed.

Mya Maddox went 3-for-3 with a triple for Lake while Katie Stahre and Kerriigan Simpson combined to pitch a six-hitter.

Morgan Petty had two hits for Milford while Darby Brennan doubled home a run.

Indian River 12, St. Mark’s 2: The Indians scored four runs in the first inning on their way to the nonconference victory.

Samantha Mumford had a double and a triple to lead Indian River.

Baseball

Milford 9, Lake Forest 2: Caden Stanley paced the Buccaneers with three hits and a RBI in the Henlopen South contest.

Bryce Greenly, William Kimmel and Jimmy Kucharzyk each had a pair of hits.  Jordan Farlow struck out five in relief and Tyler Chalmers had two hits for the Spartans.

St. Mark’s 3, Indian River 2: Matt Theodorakis’s solo homer in the fifth broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Spartans to the nonconference win.

Ryan Blades had two hits for the Indians with pitchers Jason Killen and Blades limiting St. Mark’s to three hits.

Archmere 10, Milford 1: The Auks took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the first.

William Kimmel, Caden Oplinger and Derrick Brooks accounted for Milford’s three hits.

Girls’ soccer

Archmere 4, Dover 0: The Auks scored three first-half goals en route to the nonconference victory.

Brittney Rosello made 22 saves for the Senators, who were outshot 30-1.

Ursuline 2, Lake Forest 0: The Raiders blanked the Spartans in the first game played at the Delaware Turf Complex in Frederica.

It was the first loss of the season for Lake Forest (3-1).

Wilmington Charter 3, Cape Henlopen 0: The Vikings suffered the first loss of the season on Saturday.

Lacrosse

BOYS, Indian River 19, Wilm. Christian 4: William Josetti (3 assists), John Martin (3 assists) and Wyatt Kovatch (2 assists) netted five goals each as the Indians improved to 3-0.

IR broke the game open with nine unanswered goals in the second quarter. The Indians outshot the Warriors, 34-16.

Hayden McWilliams made 10 saves, Samuel Miltner made four saves and Sam Nitz won 16 of 18 faceoffs.
