Sophomore Macy Ramsey netted five first-half goals as Caesar Rodney High opened the season with an 8-1 victory over St. Mark’s in girls’ soccer on Wednesday afternoon.

The Riders, who finished with advantages of 24-6 in shots and 7-0 in corner kicks, also got two goals from Laynee Ford (1 assist) and one from Jessie Prillaman (3 assists).

Marianna Nuzzo and Morgan Desaulniers combined for six saves for CR, which has won its last 13 regular-season games.

Appoquinimink 2, Sussex Tech 0: The Jaguars scored twice in the second half to post the nonconference victory.

Appoquinimink finished with advantages of 18-4 in shots and 2-1 in corner kicks.

Ursuline 7, Dover 0: The Raiders put the game out of reach with four second-half goals.

Brittney Rosello made 14 saves for the Senators as Ursuline finished with advantages of 19-1 in shots and 5-0 in corner kicks.

Boys, Caesar Rodney 21, Sussex Central 1: The Riders netted eight first-quarter goals before picking up the Henlopen North victory.

James Cava (5 goals), Jacob Pangle (4 goals), Jacob Copio (3 goals, 4 assists), Joshua Cosden (3 goals) and Jared Wagenhoffer (2 goals, 2 assists) were all multiple-goal scorers for CR.

Cape Henlopen 16, Dover 6: The Vikings registered the Henlopen North victory in the season opener for both teams.

Milford 18, Lake Forest 4: Jonathan Gaglione (3 assists) and Ryan Herka netted four goals each for the Buccaneers in their Henlopen South victory.

Conor Christie and Cohen Bonneville collected three goals and two assists apiece while Shane Gaglione stopped eight shots.

Sussex Tech 11, Smyrna 7: The Ravens outscored the Eagles by a combined 9-3 in the second and third quarters to take control of the Henlopen North contest.

Daniel Wilson and Nathaniel Quillin tallied four goals each for Sussex Tech, which held a 36-22 edge in shots. Hunter Severs made 13 saves.

Smyrna was paced by Jake Kaiser and Jonathan Guzman with two goals each. Nathan Williamson stopped 11 shots.

Worcester Prep 17, Delmarva Christian 2: Worcester scored eight first-quarter goals before downing the Royals.

Girls, Sussex Tech 12, Smyrna 10: Morgan Johnson scored five goals as the Ravens edged the Eagles.

Kathryn Giles had three goals for the Ravens, who led 6-4 at halftime, with Victoria Dalton and Bridget Johnson both scoring twice.

Juliana Kolakowski and Emma Mayhew tallied two goals apiece for Smyrna with Taylor Brittingham, Sierra Duman, Elicie Edmond, Julie Snow, ShiAnn Steele and Madeline Wilber all scoring one.

The Eagles’ Katelynn Porter made 11 saves.

Wilmington Charter 16, Caesar Rodney 7: The Force jumped out to a 12-3 halftime lead before handing the Riders the nonconference loss.

Kacie Cava, Noelle Ruggiero and Lillian Ayers all had two goals for CR adding the other goal and Jasmin Hall making 19 saves.

Cape Henlopen 19, Dover 0: Cailey Thornburg netted five goals while Lindsay Monigle and Chloe Schaeffer added four apiece to pace the Vikings.

The eight-time defending champion Vikings were making their debut under new coach Lindsey Eichner.

Britney Miller made nine saves for the Senators.

Baseball

Seaford 15, Delmarva Christian 0: Evan Nibblett pitched a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Blue Jays.

Seaford finished with 14 hits, scoring six runs in the first and five in the fifth inning.

Delmar 19, Arcadia 0: The Wildcats out-hit Arcadia, 19-1, using an 11-run first inning to pull away to the win.

Winning pitcher Hunter VonArx, Matthew Rodriguez and Khalik Beasley combined for 13 strikeouts.

Softball

Delmar 21, Arcadia 1: The Wildcats scored 11 runs in the first inning of the season opening-victory.

Lexi Harris went 3-for-3 with four RBI to pace Delmar’s 17-hit attack with Paige Lynch also contributing three hits. Winning pitcher Tracey Pleasanton struck out eight and allowed only one hit in three innings.
