Archmere broke open a close game with a big second quarter before going on to an 18-7 victory over Polytech High in boys’ lacrosse on Saturday afternoon.

The nonconference contest was tied 2-2 when the Auks outscored the Panthers (1-1) by a 7-2 margin in the second period.

Archmere then outscored Polytech, 7-1, in the third quarter to break the game open.

Zach Maheu and Jake Davis (1 assist) netted two goals apiece for Polytech with Zach Trabaudo and Chris Rutkoski adding a goal and assist. Noah Lust made 11 saves for the Panthers, who were outshot 42-21.

Dover 19, Joppatown 7: The Senators evened their record at 1-1 with the nonconference victory.

GIRLS, Dover 19, Joppatown 0: Grace Gast scored five goals while Cydney Barnes, Mira Prisco and Riley McQuaide added four goals each to lead the Senators.

Lizzie Ward and Ashley Manifold both had a goal and assist for Dover (1-1), which had a 44-2 edge in shots.

Caravel 17, Caesar Rodney 5: The Riders fell behind 11-3 at halftime before dropping the nonconference decision.

Sawyer Walker scored twice for CR with Kacie Cava, Noelle Ruggiero and Madeline Bennett adding the other goals. Goalie Jasmin Hall made nine saves.

Indian River 11, Red Lion 2: Helen Davis tallied five goals for the Indians, who outscored the Lions 8-2 in the second half.

Lexi Haden added two goals and five assists for IR while Mya Parks made six saves.

Smyrna 16, Delaware Military 6: The Eagles picked up the win in a game played on Friday.

Baseball

Caravel 11, Cape Henlopen 10: The Buccaneers rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the win.

Cape had scored five straight runs over the last three innings to take a 10-7 lead into the last inning.

Zach Dale hit a two-run homerun for the Vikings with Zack Gelof and Austin Elliott adding two RBI each.

Coling Adams had three hits with a homer and four RBI for Caravel.

St. Mark’s 6, Caesar Rodney 0: Billy Sullivan and Jack Dubecq combined to pitch a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Spartans.

St. Mark’s broke a scoreless tie with a run in the second and two in the third.

Girls’ soccer

Lake Forest 3, Dover 0: Hannah Fox scored two goals in a five-minute span of the second half to cap off the victory.

The contest was part of the Upstate/Downstate Challenge, played at Sussex Academy.

Rachel Harrell’s goal in the 41st minute gave Lake Forest the lead for good.

Woodbridge 3, Brandywine 1: Alexis Thomas tallied the Raiders’ first two goals in the victory.

Angle Walker added the other goal for Woodbridge, which opened up a 3-0 first-half lead. The Raiders held advantages of 19-2 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks.

Sussex Tech 6, Delmarva Christian 0: The Ravens netted five second-half goals to break the game open.

Sussex Tech’s Nicolette Phillips and Ella Marsh (1 assist) had two goals apiece with Kira Short (1 assist) and Alexis Singh also scoring.

Claire Marshall made 10 saves for the Royals.

A.I. DuPont 2, Seaford 0: The Tigers scored a goal in each half to earn the win.

Eunice Castrejon-Cortina made 18 saves for Seaford, which was outshot 18-4.

Softball

Caesar Rodney 15, St. Mark’s 1: The Riders (1-1) took control with an eight-run fourth inning.

Sophia Baddell hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs while Alyssa Ball threw a five-hitter with six strikeouts.

Milford 16, Christiana 0: Megan Fry drove in seven runs, including four on a grand slam, to power the Buccaneers to the win on Friday.

Morgan Abbott pitched a five-inning one-hitter while C.J. Kohel had two hits and three RBI.
