CHESWOLD — No foul play is suspected as police seek to locate a 33-year-old Cheswold woman and her 13-year-old daughter last seen on May 16, authorities said on Tuesday.
According to the Cheswold Police Department, Susan M. Temple picked up her daughter Amissa Wells from her brother’s house in the Hunters Run Development in Bear at approximately noon and has been missing since.
Police Chief Christopher Workman said authorities were notified of the disappearance on May 22 and have been unable to contact her through repeated cellphone calls. Amissa lives with her father, who also has been unsuccessful in reaching her.
Police said Ms. Temple allegedly sent a cellphone text to a family member Friday saying she’d be home the next day, but did not return.
Authorities said Ms. Temple left her home on Dayflower Court in the Fox Pointe Development on May 14, heading to a local repair shop in her father’s vehicle, police said.
The missing vehicle is described as a 2007 Honda Civic, light gray in color with a Delaware license plate number 344006.
“We just want her to contact us to make she and her daughter are safe,” Chief Workman said.
Also, Chief Workman hopes the missing mother and daughter may come in contact with police or citizens who have seen their images in newspapers, and the police department’s website, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Police said they had no information on the whereabouts of the missing girl’s father.
Ms. Temple is currently wanted on capiases through Justice of the Peace Court 20 in Wilmington and Kent County Superior Court, according to police.
Authorities asked anyone with information to call 911 or Cheswold police at 734-2202.
