HARRINGTON — A 28-year-old Harrington man was arrested on Sunday for felony arson and a string of recent bank robberies in Camden and Greenwood, said officials.

According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office, a joint investigation with the Greenwood and Camden Police Departments led to Joshua Lewis as a primary suspect in the July 28 robbery of Shore United Bank in Camden and the Aug. 2 robbery of Discover Bank in Greenwood.

Authorities discovered Mr. Lewis’s connection to the robberies after responding to an Aug. 3 vehicle fire on Pinepitch Road, west of Harrington. It was determined that the fire was intentionally ignited and the vehicle matched the description of one related to the recent bank robberies.

A search warrant and an arrest warrant was obtained for Mr. Lewis on Saturday, but several attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. However, Mr. Lewis was taken into custody by the Dover Police on Sunday for a third robbery that had occurred in Dover that day.

Mr. Lewis was charged with several felonies related to the robberies and arson. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 in Dover and committed to the James T Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $108,000 bond.
