DOVER — A 31-year-old Harrington man died after being shot twice Sunday night in a Dover alley.

It was the city’s fourth shooting incident in 10 days.

The victim, John T. William, was pronounced dead at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover after being dropped off by two unknown persons shortly after 10:25 p.m., Dover Police said. He was later pronounced deceased.

Minutes earlier, officers had responded to the alley in the 500 block of River Road after a 911 call reported several gunshots were heard, police said.

The hospital then called police when Mr. William arrived there.

The persons who dropped off Mr. William did not remain at the hospital, police said.

No description of a suspect was available. Officers canvassed the neighborhood while investigating afterward, according to police.

Mr. William’s body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy, police said.

Investigation is ongoing and Dover PD asked anyone with information to call 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
