I agree with Dave Moeller (Commentary, March 22) that the litter problem has gotten out of hand. And it has been for some time. There needs to be a massive public advertising campaign with the message that littering is unacceptable. This message should be taught in schools as well. The governor should ask the fast food and convenience store businesses to include this message on all their bags, food cartons, cups, etc. Also, put the message on those concrete parking posts that surround these stores. And on the menu boards. Businesses don’t like to be nannies, I get that. But what customer would object? Have a sign; “We don’t litter your yard, please don’t litter ours.” I would be more inclined to favor businesses that take a public anti-litter stance. We all should.
