FELTON - Multiple fire companies assisted Felton Community Fire Co. Tuesday afternoon with a barn fire at 291 John Hurd Road, west of Felton.
Units including Harrington, Camden-Wyoming, Magnolia and nearby Goldsboro, Md., responded, along with Kent County paramedics, according to Eugene Tucker, Felton Community Fire Co. public relations officer.
Approximately 50 personnel under the direction of Felton First Assistant Chief Chris Clough took 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control of the 100-by-40-foot structure, using approximately 57,000 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.
The firefighters on scene were able to prevent the fire from destroying other structures but the barn containing a combine and other equipment was a total loss. Firefighters remained in service for approximately four hours and there were no injuries reported.
The fire is being investigated by the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office. There was no estimated loss available Tuesday.
