DOVER — A Kent County grand jury indicted a Felton man this week in connection with a reported chase in early 2016 that a left a police vehicle inoperable.
A 10-count indictment was returned Monday against Brian S. Oneill, of the 10000 block of South DuPont Highway.
Arrested on Jan. 31, he now is facing 10 charges in Kent County Superior Court.
According to the Harrington Police Department, two officers were nearly hit by a vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed from a traffic stop, and a patrol vehicle was struck and disabled in the Quality Suites parking lot on Corn Crib Road at approximately 9 a.m.
The fleeing vehicle eventually turned over into a ditch on Corn Crib Road, police said. Mr. Oneill, 41 at the time, was treated for nonlife threatening injuries at a hospital and released, according to Harrington Police.
A vehicle stop initially was made to investigate a vehicle with tinted windows traveling on South DuPont Highway, authorities said.
Indicted charges included two counts of first-degree reckless endangering, disregarding a police officer’s signal, operating a vehicle with improper window tint, criminal impersonation, criminal mischief, reckless driving, failure to have a registration card in possession, driving without a license, and resisting arrest.
Deputy Attorney General Greg Babowal signed the indictment for the state.
