DOVER — The Delaware State University football team will travel to Florida State University next season, Florida State announced on Twitter.
The Hornets will make the trip to Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Nov. 18, 2017.
It will be the second game Delaware State plays against a FBS opponent. The Hornets are traveling to play West Virginia of the Big 12 on Sept. 16, 2017.
Florida State of the ACC went 9-3 overall in 2016. The Seminoles will be playing in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 against Michigan.
Delaware State is coming off a season where it went 0-8 in the MEAC and 0-11 overall.
FSU will pay Delaware State a $475,000 guarantee for the game, according to a report by 247Sports.
The Hornets also played a team from a power conference in 2016. They were defeated at Missouri 79-0.
Delaware State has played a FBS team four out of the last five years. It also played Cincinnati in 2012, Temple in 2014 and Kent State in 2015. The Hornets lost all those contests.
DelState also traveled to play at Michigan in 2009 and was defeated.
