DOVER — Police investigated two shots-fired incidents, including one that left a man wounded, within roughly 12 hours on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the Dover Police Department, eight shots were fired in the Cecil and New streets at approximately 12:36 p.m. Wednesday. An unknown black man wearing all black fired at a truck or white SUV, which fled the area before officers arrived, authorities said.

A nearby Chrysler Sebring’s windshield was struck by a round.

At 12:50 a.m. Thursday, a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg while arguing with another man near the intersection of Boggs Drive and Nimitz Road, police said. Police said they are looking into what sparked the argument.

The wounded man was in a vehicle when shot, and the suspect was on foot, police said.

The man was treated at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital for a non-life threatening injury, according to authorities.

No other people were believed to be in the area when the shot was fired, police said.

After investigation, police said Jaymere Lewis, 19, whose last known address was the 700 block of Bacon Avenue was sought for alleged first-degree assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Authorities said Mr. Lewis should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him should call 911.

Dover Police was notified of the shooting after the wounded man arrived at the hospital via private vehicle.

Investigation is ongoing, police said.
