DOVER — Police urged the public to check their credit card/bank statements and monitor their credit after they arrested two men and are seeking a third in connection with an alleged credit card/identity theft operation.

Dover Police said they became aware of the alleged operation when the Dover Sears store notified them that an employee was illegally purchasing gift cards with unknown victims’ credit card information.

The employee, Jonathan Williams, 22, was also an employee at the Best Buy in Dover.

Mr. Williams was allegedly gaining access to credit card and personal information from victims across the country and using that information to make purchases.

A search warrant was later conducted at a residence at Country Village Apartments in Dover. As a result, Raheem Williams, 23, and William Smalls Jr., 22, were arrested.

Jonathan Williams was not present and is wanted by authorities.

During the search warrant, police said, investigators located a credit card production site, multiple skimming devices, credit card embossing devices, and numerous blank chipped  and non-chipped credit cards.

The suspects were allegedly creating duplicate or false credit cards as well as fake state identification cards for the purpose of using them to defraud companies by making purchases, police said.

In addition to the credit card equipment, according to authorities, investigators located marijuana in the apartment that was intended for resale.

Jonathan Williams is wanted for possession of a scanning device, theft over $1,500, second-degree conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was given a $7,750 unsecured bond.

Mr. Small Jr. was charged with possession of a scanning device, theft over $1,500, second-degree conspiracy,  possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $7,750 unsecured.

At this time, police said, it is unknown how many people have been victimized by this alleged operation.

Dover Police “strongly” encourage that everyone should pay close attention to their credit card statements and bills, bank accounts, and monitor their credit reports for suspicious activity, especially if they’ve shopped at the Dover Sears or Best Buy locations.
