DOVER — A 34-year-old Dover man was arrested Monday after an investigation found he allegedly was keeping marijuana in a storage facility, police said.

Detectives assigned to the Kent County Drug Task Force and the Kent County Governor’s Task Force went to the Liberto Self Storage facility at 1502 E. Lebanon Road around 10:30 p.m. Monday after information was received that Malik R. Nasir allegedly was storing marijuana in a rented storage container, police said.

Mr. Nasir was found in the parking lot of the storage facility and taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was conducted on the container.

Detectives located 3,085 grams of suspected marijuana along with drug paraphernalia and more than $350 in suspected drug proceeds, police said.

Mr. Nasir was transported to Troop 3 in Camden where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna on $30,250 cash bond.

On Tuesday at approximately 2:50 p.m., police said, detectives with the assistance of the Dover Police Department and Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a search warrant at Mr. Nasir’s residence in the unit block of Ediman Court. The search revealed two .38 caliber revolvers, two 9mm handguns, one .357 revolver, over 223 rounds of ammunition and over $5,000 in suspected drug proceeds, authorities said.

One of the 9mm handguns recovered was reported stolen from a vehicle on Tischer Drive in Dover on April 6, 2014, according to police.

Mr. Nasir was charged additionally with nine counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited due to a 2004 felony conviction of manufacturing, sale, possession of a controlled substance out of Charlottesville, Virginia, receiving a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Nasir received an additional $93,200 secured bond after being video arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 on Wednesday.
