DOVER — A 48-year-old Dover man was charged with first-degree robbery after money allegedly was taken at knife point from a patron on Sunday outside the Royal Farms on Del. 10 (Lebanon Road), authorities said.

Delaware State Police said the alleged incident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. as a 58-year-old man was exiting the Royal Farms after using the Automated Teller Machine inside.

As the man began to open the driver’s side door to his car, police said, a person approached him with a knife and told him to give him all his money. The patron took a couple steps backward before the suspect physically removed the cash from his hand and began running westbound on Del. 10, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The Kent County Emergency Operations Center broadcast the description of the suspect over the radio and a trooper in the immediate area of the Royal Farms was able to observe a person matching the description running westbound in the area of Stone Ridge Development, authorities said.

The trooper parked his patrol vehicle and began walking the area where the suspect was last seen and observed a single set of footprints in the snow which let directly to a house within the development. A trooper knocked on the door and a woman inside said her son had just run into the house moments before, according to police.

State police took the suspect, Dominic Boston, into custody without incident. A trooper located a black pocket knife in Mr. Boston’s pants pocket along with the clothing he had just been wearing stored in the laundry room to which he had run, according to police.

Mr. Boston was also charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna on $40,000 secured bond.
