DOVER — Delaware Pride will hold the 2021 Delaware Pride Festival Saturday on Legislative Mall in Dover from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public to attend. The festival is a family-friendly event and people of all ages and sexual orientations are welcome.

The event DJ is DJ Ben Abl.

Entertainers will include Manhattan Prairie Dogs, Aunt Mary Pat DiSabatino, Miss Troy, Antony Cherrie, Marielle Kraft, Josh Zuckerman, Chris Jehnert, 2016 Delaware Pride Queen Miss Peaches, 2014 Delaware Pride Newcomer Cherry St. Cartier and 2021 Miss Gay Wilmington Tamia Mykles.

There will also be a Drag Queen Story Time in the Kids Zone from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Aunt Mary Pat, a middle-aged Delaware County, Pennsylvania native is embodied by thirtysomething Troy Hendrickson of Wilmington and he’s been taking social media and YouTube by storm over the past few years.

With a trademark “Hey youse guys. Aunt Mary Pat here. Hope you’re doing good,” Aunt Mary Pat has been making her legions of followers laugh as they follow her travails with her husband Larry and “(bleep)hole daughter Kelly” as she talks about her marriage, her job at the grocery story and various encounters at the Wawa, all done with an accent that anyone who has ever spent anytime north of New Castle County will instantly recognize.

A performer by nature, Mr. Hendrickson is a graduate of the Cab Calloway School for the Arts in Wilmington, having grown up in the Prices Corner area of the city.

A noted drag performer in the Philadelphia and Wilmington areas, known as Miss Troy, Mr. Hendrickson’s persona as Aunt Mary Pat has appeared across the country.

Aunt Mary Pat’s act now, which she will perform from 1 to 1:30 p.m. during the Pride Festival on Legislative Mall, consists of one-half standup and the other half music.

The Delaware Pride Festival is the single largest LGBT gathering in Delaware and it helps give the community needed exposure and recognition. Their goal is to promote platforms for expressing diversity and creating a more visible and united LGBT community.
