Delaware Nature Society’s spring native plant sale goes online

WILMINGTON — Delaware Nature Society’s annual native plant sale is online and open to the public on Sunday and Monday.

This spring’s theme is “Hope Blooms,” celebrating the return of spring.

A preview of plants for sale is available now.

Quantities will be limited.

Plants can be picked up on May 13 to May 15. One pick up location will be in northern New Castle County, the other will be in northern Sussex County. Exact locations provided after purchase.

DelNature will be providing three pre-made plant packages to make planting easier, including plants that attract butterflies and birds:

  • Abbott’s Mill 40th Anniversary Package (six plants for $40): three Asclepias tuberosa/Butterfly Milkweed, two Rudbeckia fulgida fulgida/Black-eyed Susan and one Schizachyrium The Blues/Little Bluestem.
  • Butterfly Garden Package (eight plants for $55): Attract the butterflies with this package. Two Eutrochium/Joe Pye, three Lobelia siphilitica/Blue Lobelia, two Phlox Jeana/Garden Phlox and one Solidago Fireworks.
  • Bird Package (eight plants for $65): two Vaccinium/Blueberry, one Panicum/Switchgrass, three Echinacea/Purple Coneflower and two Solidago caesia/Goldenrod.

DelNature staff will follow current safety guidelines including staying 6 feet apart from customers, using face masks and sanitizing hands between orders. Pickup will be curbside.
