WILMINGTON — The board of the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement held its annual meeting Aug. 2, and a pair of new members — Guillermina Gonzalez and Tom Sheridan — were announced to the group.

Ms. Gonzalez, an adjunct professor at Wilmington University, has experience working in the for-profit, nonprofit and education sectors. In her former role at the Delaware Arts Alliance, she served as a partner with DANA on advocacy issues.

Mr. Sheridan, president of The Sheridan Group, has extensive public policy experience, successfully advocating for transformative social impact reform.

Charles Vincent, Esq., executive director of the Spur Impact Association, and Vickie Young Beam, principal of Cover & Rossiter Certified Public Accountants, were elected to a second term on the DANA board.

“DANA’s outstanding board members bring unique and extensive experiences and perspectives to the issues facing Delaware’s nonprofit sector, especially as we support the sector in managing through the current pandemic and challenges it brings,” said Chair Dominic Canuso.

“Both Guillermina and Tom are great additions to the board and bring valuable professional experience that will contribute to DANA’s ongoing success and the success of our member agencies.”

During the meeting, members also reviewed DANA’s financial performance, public policy updates, an overview of its diversity, equity and inclusion nonprofit support services and new-member initiatives, such as its Concierge grant application support.

DANA shared the results of its most recent member survey, highlighting ways nonprofits find value in the efforts of its mission. Video of the meeting, along with the alliance’s annual report for 2020, can be found on its webpage.

“The annual meeting is a great opportunity to express our gratitude to the board, staff, alliance partners and nonprofits who work collectively to better our communities through the impactful work of Delaware nonprofits,” said Sheila Bravo, DANA president and CEO.

“We appreciate the feedback and questions DANA members bring forward, and this insight helps us to develop new services, such as those highlighted at the meeting, to strengthen, enhance and advance nonprofit leadership, their organizations and the sector as a whole.”
