Ethan Reid scored four goals, one of four Riders with multiple goals, as the Caesar Rodney High boys’ lacrosse team won 18-0 over Delmar in a Saturday afternoon contest.
Patrick Craig and Steven Grossman each recorded a hat trick for Caesar Rodney (2-0). Ryan Carey provided two goals and eight assists while Craig had four assists.
Hunter Christensen, Brendan Wark, Charles Gordinier, Clay Friend, Mason Griffith and Nicholas Gordinier netted a goal apiece for the Riders.
Worcester Prep, Md. 10, Smyrna 6: The Eagles dropped the out of state game to fall to 3-2.
Baseball
Smyrna 6, Newark 5: Dalton Leager went 2-for-3 with two RBI and drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth for the Eagles.
Connor Strauss was 2-for-2 for Smyrna while Shawn Mannering was 1-2 with an RBI and Dylan Willey doubled.
Softball
Caravel 2, Seaford 1: The Blue Jays fell by a run in the nonconference contest on Saturday.
College baseball
Hornets split in Norfolk: Delaware State lost the first game of a doubleheader at Norfolk State 7-2 before earning a 2-1 victory in the second game.
Jordan Haddaway pitched 8.1 innings in the nightcap, scattering seven hits and striking out four. Krew Bouldin doubled home a run in the fourth inning and singled home the winning run in the sixth.
Miguel Rivera scored both runs in the first game for the Hornets. Brady Daniels recorded an RBI and Mark Herron registered a pair of hits.
Hens swept by Towson: Delaware dropped a pair of games at Towson, 10-2 and 7-6.
Mitchell Balint hit a pair of solo homers for the Blue Hens in the first game for their only two runs. Jordan Hutchins led Delaware in the second with three RBI.
College softball
Wesley sweeps Neumann: The Wolverines took the first matchup 5-4 before winning the nightcap 7-2.
Ariana Mirenda scored the winning run in the first game on an error to break a 4-4 tie in the seventh. Mirenda finished with three hits and two RBI in the first game while Kylie Nagle had a home run.
Gabriella Monzo homered in the second game. Nagle, Amanda Curry, Dori Loukopoulos and Carly Setting each doubled while Miranda Kinney led the Wolverines with two RBI.
Women’s lacrosse
Kennesaw State 19, Delaware State 7: Gwenna Gentle and Emmy McGill led the Hornets with two goals each during the home defeat.
Marissa Gore had four goals and two assists, while Camryn Klaus and Caroline Farley scored three each to lead Kennesaw State.
