WILMINGTON — With a free COVID-19 vaccination comes a free scoop of ice cream from The Ice Cream Shoppe at this year’s Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Festival on Saturday at Rockwood Park.
Participants will also be entered in the state of Delaware’s DE Wins! vaccination incentive program.
The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available for adults, with the Pfizer shot for youth 12 and over. Walk-up hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. No registration or appointment is required.
Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic — as all food vendors will be serving ice cream and desserts only — as well as chairs and blankets to enjoy the outdoors at Rockwood Park.
The festival will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 3 p.m., and admission is free.
Several ice cream and other treat vendors will be attending, such as UDairy Creamery, Woodside Farm Creamery and Sweet Josephines.
Local live music will also run from 9:30 to 1:30, and the First State Flea Market kicks off with more than 40 craft vendors.
The Wilmington Brew Works Beer Garden will open at 11.
Proceeds will benefit the Rockwood Park Preservation Society.
Regardless of vaccination status, guests are asked to follow all current mask and safety guidelines from the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More details about the festival can be found online.
